This kind of thread is why I sprang for the charity dinner last year and am doing it again this year.

My boss let me sneak home a little early to post. He thinks you guys are great, too. Yes, I had to explain the name. It was ~awkward~.

Anyone who wishes to donate, here's the link. Get Well Gamers

The best part about this charity is, you can also donate games and game systems to them, as well as money. Got an old game collecting dust, and Gamestop won't give you anything for it? Send it on over, and GWG will put it to good use. For USA peoples, you can shove 5-6 game CDs in one of those first class flat-rate envelopes, as long as you use those slim plastic DVD cases.

CCP, I don't know if you can, but a Plex 4 Kids drive would be a really cool thing, for people unable to make the Fanfest trip and attend the charity dinner. I'm sure if I ask James 315 really nicely, he might even chip in some New Order isk, just to keep everything nice and CODE compliant.

7.2 CAN I AVOID PVP COMPLETELY? No; there are no systems or locations in New Eden where PvP may be completely avoided. --Eve New Player Guide

Even though, we are some whiny sons of bitches. Who cry over losses of pixel assets, and then proceeds to the GD forums to throw poo at each other. We still manage, to support such initiatives.

It god damn warms your heart!

I'm not going to Fanfest and therefore not the charity dinner. But Lady Areola Fappington you email me an address, and I'll ship a PS3 or XBox there the next day.

Very cool, o7.

LAF, you have gained my respect as a human being. Keep it up. I shall go through my storage units to see if my old consoles and games are still there, as this would be a worthy cause to donate them to.

I can certainly vouch for this!! +10 Blue!! I can also say I am proud of this community as well, despite all of the wreckless trolling spamming and what not. BUT, when an Angel comes in to share something this special, it's also great to know there ARE CARING people yet today.

Hypotethically speaking, if I was to bot-mine to donate to a charity drive for this cause, would this fine lady gank me?

I was looking into Fanfest this year, and I noticed the Charity dinner is in benefit of Get Well Gamers. GWG is a charity that donates video games, and game systems to children's hospitals.

I'm a nurse who works for a children's hospital, who has received video game systems from GWG. It doesn't seem like a lot to me and you, but those video games mean the world to the kids on my ward. Some of them have extremely painful, awful medical conditions that no kid should face. Some are terminal, and don't have long for this world. The treatments they face are sometimes worse than the disease itself. Just being able to sit down with "my" kids, forget everything, and just play Mario Kart for a few hours means a lot.

We're a charity hospital. There's no way we could budget for those games. Most of the families there have no way to budget a luxury like a PS3. Healthcare is expensive, and pediatrics even more so.

I sent CCP a personal thank you, and now I'd like to thank the community. Sure, we're a bunch of dysfunctional, arguing neckbeards (and neckbeardettes), but damnit, we can do some good in the world.

Thank you again CCP, and thanks, EVE players. You've got an old nurse in tears over this, and I'm proud to say I'm a member of the EVE community.

Not empty quoting.

Just hoping the thread gets back to this issue and not others that can be saved for other threads.
