Random crashes

Never usually suffer with post-patch crashing issues, but this one's kicking my ass.

Every hour or so (almost without fail) I'm dumped back to desktop without so much as a dialog box to tell me WTF is going wrong. Had two clients up and running at one point with my alt to see what would happen - both dumped to desktop at the same time.

Have petitioned with deets - just wondering if I'm alone here.

PS. Corp Locations / solar system map contrast / warp tunnels FTW Big smile

i have a comparable post-patch crashing issues like you, but with me this random crash occurs when i swap the 2 clients with the "alt+tab" key.
And i observe that the game doesn't save the chatlogs on the hard drive.

I can confirm that alt-tabbing also crashes my client(s). I do not have to run more than one client for this to occur. It is enough to alt-tab out of client, try to tab back in, and 80% of the time I come back to a blackscreen, with windows informing me EVE stopped responding 15 seconds down the line.

This renders the game pretty much unplayable for me.

Also having this issue, client crashes while alt-tabbing, doesn't seem to matter if one or two clients are open. Often, if two clients are open, only one of them will crash, the other will keep going along just fine.

Running under Win 7 Home Premium SP1, 6 gb memory, NVidia GTX260 graphics card

Yep same here. Alt+tabbing between 2 clients freezes one up at the black screen with a CCP ExeFile has stopped working message.

Started with Crucible. Does it maybe every 3rd or 4th Alt+tab. Fresh install didn't help.

Same story.

One thing I've noticed tho: using win+D to minimize all windows then clicking on one of client to restore it really help to avoid these crashes. Not 200% solution, but somewhat works.

If you are running your clients in full screen mode, please check if using the "Fixed Window" mode (set to your desktop resolution) lets you switch between clients more reliably.

Havin just the same issues here - well exept for crachin i got all windows(in game) disaperin or going black after usin alt-tab between 2 accounts. Usual measurs not hepling - no cash cleaning nor fresh download and install of client.
Tho i must admit that 2gb ddr is low this times even that i use Xp.

This seems to have solved the crashing problem for now. Thanks!

Thank you for providing a workaround, I had considered that as well. Unfortunately if you end up running more than one client at once, running them in windowed mode also means they continue being rendered while minimized, which is considerably more stress on the GPU and slows down performance.

Has the underlying issue already been identified? It would be really good to know whether there's an actual fix in the works, and when it's likely going to be implemented.

Thank you for reading the thread and giving us feedback - it's much appreciated, Karidor.

Works fine so far, thanks for the tip. Win+D was also doing the job, but Fixed Window makes life easier for sure :)
