5-10 second client freezes

Hi,

I have been getting 5-10 second freezes during my eve gameplay lately, I have only noticed it in the last roughly week and a half, but I haven't played very much in the last month, so I don't really have a distinct clue as to what it may have been. No hardware of mine has changed, nor has much software been installed that may have changed it. I updated my graphics driver today and am still yet to test to see if it fixes it for some reason, however it is unlikely since the driver update is not a general performance update.

I do not get a black screen or anything, but the screen does remain still for the time of the freeze. I haven't yet tested whether input still works while it is frozen, but I think it should, as I can hit control-alt-delete while it is frozen and it will respond, indicating that it is a client freeze and not a system/OS freeze.

System Details:
GPU: GeForce GTX 770
CPU: Intel i5-2500 @3.30GHz
Memory: 8GB RAM
Resolution: 1920x1080, 60Hz
Nvidia Driver: 335.25
O.S: Windows 7 Pro

Running two clients on my primary screen, both full screen, only one maximised at a time, with a second screen for teamspeak/movies. I haven't tested yet whether playing movies with vlc is the problem, but I believe it still occurs without video playing on my second screen. Also, I will test whether or not it happens without the second screen running.

Both clients run on all high settings (are only rendered one at a time though, due to full screen).

Any help with my problem is greatly appreciated.

Can you run with LogServer and file a bug report? That might give useful details to track this down. Mention my name (CCP Snorlax) in the bug report title so it gets routed to me right away.

I'll attempt to run the logserver and file the bug report after downtime, thanks for your quick response. Silly me hadn't thought to lodge a bug report =/

Hi again Snorlax, I've attempted to run a logserver, but I was not able to due to an error. I have lodged a bug report with some info about the freezes, as well as some screenshots of the ingame monitor detailing some of the minutes where the freezing happened most.

I have copied the log into a notepad file as I couldn't export it to logserver.exe.

If it helps the log entry that seems to coincide with the minutes I had freezes in is:
13:37:43 blue::TaskletTimer warning Timeslice warning order 5, 4309ms (4309ms in frame)
13:48:38 blue::TaskletTimer warning Timeslice warning order 5, 4299ms (4300ms in frame)
13:50:06 blue::TaskletTimer warning Timeslice warning order 5, 4309ms (4311ms in frame)
13:53:46 blue::TaskletTimer warning Timeslice warning order 5, 4309ms (0ms in frame)

I have no idea what exactly that means, but it does seem to be a common error in those minutes.

Cheers

If you simply start up the log server before launching the EVE client, it should get full logging. Unfortunately the logs you've included only confirm the stalls you are seeing, they don't give me enough detail to pin it down. Please give that a try, see if you can get me full logs.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Thanks for your help so far :) , unfortunately I have to go to bed, I will attempt to recreate the results with the logserver open first, first thing tomorrow.

Hi again Snorlax, I've been able to reproduce the freezing again today and run the log server before starting up eve (for some unlucky reason, I wasn't able to get the freezing happening when the logserver was already running yesterday).

I have also submitted a bug report, does this give you access to the logserver file? or do I have to submit it manually?

I have had similar issues, posted in this thread. By the way it started with the newest release (1.3).

You have to save the file in the log server and attach it to a bug report. The in game bug reporting does attach logs, but they only contains warnings and errors, not the full info log.

Anyway, we're seeing more reports of this, and are actively investigating.

I have a similar issue of a client/screen-freeze every time I land on a new grid in space (although it's only ~1sec each time) since 1.3.

Bugreport sent, hope it helps.

same here only thing is my freezes being so far from eve server last 30 secs sometime 2 minutes , it what happens when u add 1.6 gig of badnwidth hog and not relagate fixes to lag which effects every body but CCP and goonswarm.
i have beenback only a couple of weeks after 12 odd months break and i can tell this lag from the eve server is back to 2007 standards which tells me CCP aren`t interested in fixing lag just interested in sucking goonswarm C O C K other wise they wouldnt be nerfing high sec in favour of criminals rather than the carebeas , very sad step backwards on CCP`s part

Now that you've confirmed that this is a issue in the client, will players be able to petition ship losses due to client freezes beyond their control?

I have been suffering constant freezes since the release of Rubicon 1.3 to the degree that I am unable to play.

I have submitted a bug report with two Log Server files to illustrate the problem.

Game crashed today after multiple jumps in which the screen was very jumpy and was freezing up. Error was a "C++ visual" something or other.

Is this a memory leak thing?

same with lag spikes on loading grid and also general instability with at least 2 occasions of the display driver totally crashing out to black screen while the client and TS continued to work, this required a hard boot to restore display

I too would like to discuss replacement of a few interceptors lost to police on a gate due to this display only crash now that its been acknowledged

I'm experiencing the same problems. I have posted about it in the Rubicon 1.3 issues thread.
The patch of today didn't fix it (for me).
Will run log server and file a bug report shortly.

The patch yesterday included a fix for a short freeze at the warp-in to scenes with many objects (including but not limited to asteroid belts). Please send bug reports with additional information if you are still experiencing freezes of some kind. Interesting are both bug reports from in-game after such a freeze happened and bug reports through the web with attached logs from logserver.exe. The logs from the in-game bug report tool and from logserver.exe contain a bit different information, and both might include important information in this case. Please also provide descriptions on when exactly these freezes happen to you.
