720MM Howitzers and the Dominix

Hi,

In an attempt to create a fit for money-making purposes, I fitted some 720MM Howitzers to my recently-purchased Dominix.

The guns work fine. That is really decent artillery.

What is not decent? The way they look on the flank of the Dominix. In fact, I think it's a bit of an embarrassment and with that I hasten to say I am not looking at our revered developers, rather I'm seeing myself flying with these... things on the flank and they utterly fail to instill a sense of dread within me. They do not look good. At all.

We have been gifted with amazing beauty, charm and new ships galore, these models though are an inexplicable lapse in the landscape of wonder and immersion that is the grand garden of delight that is New Eden.

Developers, with a comforting hug and my strong voice of support, I beseech thee: what happened?

That problem is as old as EVE.

They will not change it.


@ Danika: The problem is, even battleship sized weapons look way to small and cruiser sized weaponry hardly is large enough for cruisers, let alone battlecruisers.

I dunno. Every medium-sized weapon I fit to a Thorax looks absurdly large, while the other ships all seem to look just fine with their correct-size weaponry in place.

You can fit Large Autocannons on a Maller, thats more likely how turrets should look like in my opinion.

Anyway, Large Turrets on Battleships are a joke.

large arty kinda looks ok on a maelstrom, but it could do with being increased in size by about 10-20%

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

I wish they would change the look of capital artillery to something more closely resembling the graphic it already has.

Actually, its the graphic that needs an update, it now shows the old artillery. Same goes for most of the other weapon systems.


And yes, the old designs looked way better, Beamlaser look like a toy right now.

I have since upgraded the weapons package on the ship, in the form of 800MM Autocannon II, and it looks more acceptable, although still a far cry from the aching beauty I have come to accept as the default state of the greater New Eden demesne.

If you fine people would be so kind as to not shoot at my ship, I believe it stands a fair chance at surviving for a decent amount of time.

Yup, a frigate with large guns looks about right. I think the problem though, isn't that the guns are too small, it's that the ships are too big. But 'fixing' that would need a remodelling of every ship in EVE, so that will never happen.

could be worst, could be cruise/torp missile. it is simple silo which are barely noticeable on ship.

I think gun sizes are fine, it's just their positioning on some ships which looks kinda goofy.

Oh god.
