Stealth "Someone make a Homeworld 3 already" thread? Well, we can only hope. After the proposed Mechwarrior 5 reboot pulled a Starcraft Ghost, everyone was sure that IP was officially dead. Now we have MWO and even a browser-based table-top game. Who'd a thunk?

as for the browser based game, are you talking megamek or Mechwarrior tactics?

Too many pilots/drones died while trying to land on one. (autolevel)

if you look at it the right way, a Wyvern is a vertical supercarrier. It just has a long taily bit (which has a correct technical name, but I forgot it)

Because it's so hard to correctly time a landing roll.

If you rotate your camera 90 degrees, then you will have a vertical carrier.

Also, how are you going to store all those horizontal ships? Stand them up on the side? They'll snap like twigs! Cry

The really big question is: "why are there no saucer shaped ships?"

Fwiw Anal probe launchers are unwanted

We actually do have a UFO saucer ship, we just can't fly it. It's the Jovian industrial ship.

EDIT: And I +1 this for adding more vertical ships, hell I nominate they redesign the ugly as f*ck revenant into the vertical super carrier, and add some damn spikes onto it while your at it. Seriously, whoever did the design for the revenant should be ashamed of themselves.

The inspiration for the revenant literally came out of a toilet.

Because vertical ships are dumb and would never work from an engineering standpoint without sacrificing tons of efficiency/functionality.

Space is like jello, how would a vertical carrier not glide through jello better than a horizontal one?

Depending on if said inspiration clogged the toilet.

Because drag. Water is not near as thick as jello. When was the last time you saw a vertical submarine?

Why wouldn't drag also make being a horizontal carrier impossible? I think we have someone here who is prejudice against vertical.
