Do yous all have lower SP alts? I am at about 131 msp and have a 100 MSP alt and i find myself not PvPing like i use to, not taking the risks i use to all the time because now its not only losing a ship but possibly a clone that costs equivalent to a battle cruiser..

This wouldnt have been such an issue in my good days of eve, but after playing for all these years i dont like grinding for isk, spending hours on roams and just dont have time for that stuff anymore with kids and all.

How many of you all keep lower SP alts specifically for high risk PvP ? (Not blob PvP, thats not high risk) I guess this can goto anyone with higher clone costs.

I can tell you this.

If losing a battlecruiser's worth in ISK is a problem for you then you suck.

Especially bad with that many SP.

Not today spaghetti.

lol

Like i said i have a busy life and family.. i literally play maybe an hour every week or two. if i can get that in... as stated back when i was into eve and could spend time on it it wouldnt have been an issue.

I dont know many 130+ msp people who plays eve on a daily basis anymore.

I know the problem. Every time I hear "just deathclone to station X", I'm like.... Yeah.... Ill just grab an interceptor and try my luck.

I dont use a lowskill alt for h-risk pvp. The benefits of being able to undock any ship I have are too great. I do admit to taking the "cost" of my clone into account when deciding if a 1vs1 is a go.

Its a PITA when you fly dictors (higher than average chance of losing pod) and tends to put me off flying T1 frigates as the bare pod is way more expensive than the ship+modules.

Apart from that its OK(ish) now - medical clone costs were reduced last year anyway.

If you only play an hour every week or two then probably your only sane option is to buy PLEX and fund the losses that way. Depends how good you are/how good the loot fairy is to you Blink

Edit - I do have lower SP alts which are (in theory) capable of PvP but they get used for scanning/cynos/etc, one of them has a few kills but that was more by accident than design.

Short answer is yes I do.

Theres still stuff you can do with higher SP toons but it gets rarer when your blowing that kind of isk, and frankly isk isnt a problem for me but that doesnt mean I want to blow an extra 20-30mil every time I go PvP due to my clone. Thats how you stay broke imo when the little things start adding up to big things. Its fine if you stay in high or low sec pvp but as soon as you head to null the landscape changes a bit and getting podded regularly is a much more frequent occurrence.

It also means your flavor of ship type is usually more expensive as well. No more RVB Ganked frigate roam nights into null sec. but when you go you go a lil bit heavier isk wise.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

I agree it's a PITA, part of being a high SP character. While my clone hasn't reached BC level cost yet, I find flying cheap ships less than enjoyable. Not because of the cost, but simply because of the fact my clone is worth 10 times more than my ship.
I can afford it, but the simple fact remains that the clone vs the ship cost is annoying.

I'm seriously considering training an alt for 'basic pvp' with just a frig, as I love flying them.

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

I have a 30+mil sp alt that only flys covert ops frigs. It takes 10m sp to just get good fitting/cap/navigation skills not to mention weapon and ship skills.

My main has 170 mils sp and i pvp less because of the clone cost + implants. In matter of fact, my clones are worth 2x/4x as much as the ships i fly... So yeah it does affect my eve play alot.

Higher clone cost - the less chances I'm willing to take

At 45m for just the clone... My willingness is fairly reduced Roll

Sell your high SP char, buy a lower SP char, and have fun with the remaining 30 billion isk.

It's not that easy when you've had a char for 7 years and everyone you know in the game knows you by your char name.Smile

neutral logi seem all the rage recently in high sec. We've recently been wardecced by someone that according to evekill seems to perma run around with 3-4.
