Launcher Issue fix for Windows 7 DX 11 computers

I like everyone else have a Windows 7 x64 DX 11 computer well the lastest patch the launcher would come up only to have a screen that would be more than half blank and it would not update.

So what I did was to drag out my old xp computer and copy the eve client to that system and it launches and plays.

So next what I did was to right click on the eve icon and then select the compatibility tab then check mark the box,
that says run for windows XP with Service pack 3 then click apply and my windows 7 computer will get the,
Complete launcher window and the game will run.

I also checked this fix on a windows Vista computer and it works as well.

Hope this helps the community.

I work as a Systems Engineer in a IT department.

Its my guess the Dev's or whom ever is responsible for Windows platform testing only checked the patch against Windows XP
and didnt' bother to check against Vista or Windows 7. Only a guess mind you but there it is.

Evveryone can now have fun again.

Ran into this problem several patches ago - as did a lot of other people. CCP's official fix for this was to go to the settings and revert back to DirectX 9 until they got around to fixing it.

Which is to say, go back to DirectX 9 and don't hold you breath.

Actually I had tried to change the launcher to run as DX 9 but it would not do it. kept doing the same thing.
I did get the patch and updated but when it launched I could not log in and it would not give me the orange bar at the bottom.

So I tired my XP computer and it works. Next I did the run as XP Service pack 3 compatibility mode and the game plays.

I even had run through the laucher.exe log file but its like hunting for a needle in a haystack with that.

Erh no, my win7 x64 dx11 updated without a hitch.

As have every single patch after the first ones when the launcher was introduced.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

I guess and hope that is wasn't tested against Vista, because every action that can keep get people to up (or even down if needed) from Vista is a good thing.

Second thing is that the launcher, it's upgrades and the game works without a hitch not only on XP dx9 but also on Win7-32 dx11(and dx9) and Win7-64 dx11(and dx9, tested it esp for you).

The scary thing is that issues with the launcher showing half or broken data is that is a connection thing.

The launcher is grabbing everything from the net (try it, disconnect your net and start your launcher, or run a network analyser, you're a Systems Engineer at an IT department after all ).

And as it happens, the content distribution company that CCP is paying to distribute their data had a systems failure just around the release of Rubicon 1.3.

If you tracked the error down to being an issue with win7 and dx11 then I'd recommend that you don't mention that analysis in your CV and never tell anyone for what company you work.
