Looking for Ideas on the Logistics of Corp Deliveries

Well... after a 4 year hiatus I'm back to Eve.

In returning I'm trying to clean up a lot of deliveries from buy orders I had out 4 years ago and here's what I need help with, I have multiple instances like this, but I'll just use one example and ask how to scale it.

Let's say I have deliveries in 8 stations in the same system and need to move them 3 jumps to my manufacturing base. None of these deliveries require a freighter alone but would probably fill 3 or more iteron V loads in total so a freighter makes sense. The question is, would it be faster to do the multiple runs in the iteron, or to just do them all in a freighter? Another thought I had was to take a freighter to the system with an industrial in it, dock it in the station with the most items, and then use the industrial to bring the other deliveries to the station where the freighter is.

I only have one character to do this so I'm looking for the most efficient way to collect things. Skills aren't the issue, so unless there was some major skill introduced in the last 4 years I'd like to keep this just to logistics ideas.

Put the items in a courier contract and have someone else haul them for you.

Failing that, when I have to move things I use a hauler/transport for small stuff, an Orca for midsize stuff or a freighter for big things. for multiple station pickups, i just use the one type of ship rather than mess around with changing ships out on the fly.

I'd rather not go the courier route since we're talking about this situation over multiple systems and there's also the issue of courier reliability, cost, timing, etc. If it was just one or two stations I would put up a contract or just put the items for sale.

this, the fastest way is to do the fewest jumps in a freighter, and the majority in an industrial to the freighter.

keep the industrial unrigged, but with istabs and nanos to speed up the moving, also remember to bring cargo expanders for it.

Its not possible to please all the people all the time, but it sure as hell is possible to Displease all the people, most of the time.

You really don't want to dock the freighter in every single station in which you have assets. It takes forever to align and warp when exiting from each station. So you will want to take a smaller hauler like a blockade runner to consolidate your stuff in to just a couple stations.

Then take a second look at your situation.

Personally, I think three three-jump trips in an Iteron would be faster than one three-jump trip in a freighter. I am also partial to my Orca with the 100 MN MWD. It can warp in 10 seconds which speeds up the trip a great deal.

That's part of what I was looking for too. Not sure if several trips in an indy would be faster than one in a freighter. Don't have an Orca or use for one enough to justify the cost, though I suppose I could buy it, use it and then re-sell it, but I have a habit of holding on to things. Blink

Depending on the real total number of orders/stations for everything, you might consider just selling the stuff in place. If you do some back of napkin math and discover that it's taking you 1 hour to move something for a profit (or whatever) of 10million isk, just dump the stuff and run some missions or something to top up your wallet.

I've never had an issue with couriers. I move millions of m3 each week from multiple stations and it runs pretty smooth. But it does require patience to wait for it to get delivered.

You can find the answer to your question much faster by just doing every setup you have planned and timing it, rather than asking for advice on the forum. But don't mind me I just like to do things the logical way.

Actually you're doing things illogically. Though I admire your gumption, it's illogical to approach a time-consuming, but universal, problem by first running your own tests rather than consulting your peers to look for known solutions.

My time in Eve is limited, so if I can find answers here while I'm out of game, that will allow me to do more with the time I have in game.

I've found that carrying an Iteron V in the freighter seems to work best, but if there's a station that needs more than one full load on the Iteron I make the run in the freighter to that station. Still working out the kinks though.

Depends on the items and security status.

If this is all high sec and not expensive, just freighter it on auto pilot.

Else Orca

Also, look at the bays on the iteron and minmatar industrials. If it's ammo, pi, or minerals, you might be able to move more with that.

Your mistake is in thinking your problem is universal. You gave no details on your system or stations so without hard AU numbers for warp times as well as skill levels for align and speed its not possible to give you correct answer, just a guess. Also testing your setup would take maybe an hour tops in real world time hardly a time-consuming task. If you don't have that much time to test in-game you probably shouldn't be hauling.

So you're arguing that anyone who places several regional buy orders doesn't face this same issue?

This is universal and can be discussed in general terms.

I am arguing the fact that it is very difficult to give you the correct answer to this question. You asked specifically about which is fastest meaning seconds matter, as those seconds add up to minutes.

That said "Generally" speaking bouncing a freighter around is the most inefficient thing you can do. However I am not sure about taking an itty those few jumps and making them do the round trips versus aggregating into one station and then having a freighter do the last step. Again thats were AU and warp speed matters.

If you look at the OP you'll see that though the words "fast" and "fastest" are used, it's presented as a general question around efficiency, not around speed.
