When do Complexes disappear?

Ive just started running these things. Recently I found a few in a close system. Serpentis. One was a 1/10 and one was a 6/10 equivalent. I bookmarked them both. So - two questions:

1. I tried to run the 1/10 and it had clearly already been completed. Someone blitzed it and some of the rats were there, but not the important ones. Once completed, how long does it take for these things to disappear? Ive found this situation on more than one occasion.

2. I didnt have the ship needed to run the 6/10, so I just skipped it. The next day, after downtime had cycled, I went back to same system and warped to the bookmark for the 6/10, thinking the plex would be gone but it would make a good deep safe. The plex gate was still there. I didnt go in because I was in an untanked frig, but given the description of that plex, I would guess it had not been completed yet. I thought these things refreshed after downtime? Am I mistaken?

You are mistaken.

1) Once completed, plexes seem to take 2-5 minutes to despawn. However, not everyone knows all the triggers for every site, and if one of the triggers is left, the site will stay in space. I.E. if someone does not know what to shoot to get the faction rat trigger to spawn, and just shoots the structure listed in the (incomplete, not updated since 2008 Wiki) the site will stay in space and CCP will get numerous bug reports that they will have to chuckle at and ignore. Many sites have multiple triggers.

2) Untouched DED sites seem to stay in space for 3-4 days (I can't be bothered to find out the exact expiration timer). They will then despawn at the next downtime, once this timer has expired.

I've also heard that the 1/10's and 2/10s were bugged to hell when CCP did a poor job converting them to dynamic spawns. So he may be right on this. I also have entered sites to see someone has missed the trigger.

Untouched sites despawn in about 3 days, and I have seen these disappear during the day (with no one running them). However, the description of the site pops up always. For example, you can finish a site, leave it, and then warp immediately back and still sometimes get the intro message. Its simply a function of weather the sites has despawned or not, there's no "sorry someone just did this plex" message.

Very helpful. Thank you both!

Curious - is it possible to do Serpentis Logistical Outpost solo in an T2 fit ishtar or proteus? Wiki says about 1200 dps. I think I can get my passive ishtar up to around 600 serp tank without gimping its dps too much. I havent tried to fit a proteus for it yet.
