POS Fuel Death

This is a straightforward proposal: When a POS runs out of fuel, its shields and recharge drop to zero. After 48 hours, armor and structure begin to deplete at a rate of 1-million hit points per day. When the control tower is destroyed, all anchored POS modules are destroyed along with it. This would effectively eliminate and automate the removal of abandoned POS.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

+1 This would allow make a good cleaning

I have another suggestion for you :

with no maintenance the POS could fall into disrepair for a certain time (example : 14 days).
- A timer would appear on the POS indicating the time remaining.
- A warning message would be sent to the owner. (example : Danger of collapse... need refuel)
- When the time has expired the POS and its modules are automatically unanchored
- POS, modules and content that could be found in the modules can be recovered by them players who would be close to the POS
- The time before the objects disappear would be the same as an object left in space (or 2.5 hours I think)

I invent nothing that existed in old Ultima Online for abandoned houses.

These are all good suggestions. I used an arbitrary deterioration such that large control towers would last longer than small or medium ones, but I don't have a problem with a fixed amount of time for all in the interest of simplicity; 14 days seems more than reasonable. I like the idea of simply unanchoring the modules and having them expire.

Currently, when a control tower is destroyed all anchored structures unanchor and any items within those structures (BPOs, ammunition, fuel, research in progress, Ishukone Scorpions) are destroyed.

Perfect. Now we just need the shields to go offline when they run out of fuel and start decaying...

I don't really care how an offline POS gets removed, as long as it gets removed somehow.

No need for automated destruction of POSs, in LS/NS/WH get some guys shoot POS, in HS War Dec POS Owner and then get some guys and Shoot POS.

I would go so far as to support a reduction in shield HP of an offline POS, perhaps even shields offline. But a decay like that.... no.

Reason being this is a game and sometimes RL happens at a really bad time. Yes, someone could still go ahead and destroy the POS, but that requires a player action, which can happen more or less the same anyway, not the possibility of someone not being able to access Eve for a few days(Internet down, RL emergency, etc).
