clone upgrades

Why is there no notifications that your clone is not upgraded when you leave a station, i mean when you go to a 0.4 stargate you are stopped and told you are entering a 0.4 system so why is the most important part of a character not got a notification when you undock?

this hurts new players who already have so much to learn about the game and the fact a gatecamp can use various methods to hold your pod in place while they destroy your pod is pretty unfair, the isk isnt the issue when you lose your ship, pod then find out that your clone wasnt upgraded before leaving the station to have a ton of sp taken from your highest level skills. its hard enough to compete in this game but to lose valuble sp is a kick in the teeth.

I understand i should check everytime i undock but new players trying to learn this game its hard and mostly overlooked when a simple notification SHOULD be there when undocking.

I think CCP prefer it this way for those 'Oh S**T' moments you just described...

I agree, but the OP makes a good point when saying that by default the game notifies you when you're about to jump into 0.4, but not when your clone is outdated. It's a bit inconsistent, although if it was up to me i'd remove the 0.4 warning rather than add the outdated clone warning -)

Evemon yells at you hourly if you have an insufficient clone.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

A simple solution would be that CCP sends an email (only one warning) to advise the pilot that his clone is outdated.

After this, is the player to take its responsibility and update are clone.

If I remember correctly when assusrances of a vessel are expired we receives notice by email. It would be the same for mechanical clones.

i dont use evemon im affraid im still learning how to fly a frigate lol

i get notifications when my subscription needs paid and also if concord are chasing me for doing something naughty when i undock from a station, losing near 10% sp from my mere 5mil doesnt sound alot but it is to me when a simple notification could have prevented me losing the use of the only decent ships i can fly.

understand losing stuff is all part of the game and ships and pods etc can all be reimbursed by isk my deathboard shows it but losing sp is a bit of a killer at this point in the game.

10%?
Are you sure? Ive played since 2008, and I have never lost skill points, but 10% doesnt seem right. I thought you lost like 1 skill. 1 skill can hurt if it's like battleship 5, or recon 5, or hic 5, jdc 5, titan 5, but as a 5m skill point too, I wouldn't expect you to have that kind of specialist yet.

Is the penalty that high?

maybe not 10% but i lost amarr frigate lvl 5 which has 4 days 14hrs left to complete now so it took a good amount of sp from that skill maybe only 5% sp but a notification would of been helpful i mean they would never let me forget when renewal is due lol

Or just put pressure on CCP to get rid of the skill point clone system that they have already said they don't like, and implement a better system to replace the isk sink (Which is actually pretty negligible anyway since it doesn't even feature as it's own category on ther faucets & sinks graph)

way back when astral mining had clone facilities but the monkeys in dev had a drink after work one Friday night and deleted all the med facility`s at astral station and gave no notice to any one that this was being done so a bloke logs in to find he has 1 clone all the ones in Astral mining where deleted not moved along with med facility`s, an explanation to why this was needed for good customer service (some of us still pay cash for game time) was a long time coming and this paying customer is still pissed because of all the real time put into standings to get clones at astral mining only to see it wiped out in 1 or 2 mouse clicks from a bunch of fuckwits pissed in a ccp office somewhere.

This is the respect CCP shows its customers for their support.

agree with this, i dont see what use this system has, i guess people have been hit worse than me when they have forgotten to upgrade clone, for a game which takes so long to gather sp to have a system where you lose it like that is pretty demoralising.

id like to see a dev explanation as to why there is no warnings or notifications that your clone is out of date

There are in third party programs like EVEMon, a program that you should have installed and running all the time as an EVE player. It gives you a lot of warnings about neglected characters.

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

thanks, wasnt wanting to go down the route of third party software but if its important then ill download it, didnt think a 3rd party app would be needed for something like this

Third party software is very required for EVE in general.

That said, Third party software in most cases is no excuse for EVE not having the feature. If everyone uses third party software for a basic function like that, it's a sign that EVE should have it built in.

Much like EVE should have a fitting tool & industrial calculator built in.
