One of the worst problem I have though is the fact that I must fly solo.

Being a Bounty Hunter and looking for Pirates to hunt is not always easy.


Chances of getting trapped in a Covert Ops fleet with a Black Ops are not low.
Anything over 2 ships can lag the system to a dead-end meaning the fleet will collapse on itself.

Chances of surviving in a BattleCruiser (BC) at mastery level V are better.
The risk of loss of ISK is lower since the value is lower (as well as the cost).


I may try it but , if I don't buy a Black Ops from the Character Bazaar, it may be next year.
(If that option is still operational by then.)

I like your post. I just wanted to add that any ship that can fit the Covert Ops Cloak can also lock onto the Covert Cyno and use the Black Ops bridge.

Anyway, I had a similar idea a couple years ago which was to create a Covert Exploration Team :

1x Covert Ops Frigate
1x Blockade Runner
2x T3 Cruiser -w- Covert Subsystem
3x Stealth Bomber
2x Force Recon Cruiser
1x Black Ops Battleship


The Covert Ops Frigate would scout ahead and scan for both exploration sites and hostile ships. It would also do hacking when required.

The Blockade Runner would carry the Jump Fuel and Munitions. As the Fuel and Munitions is used up, the cargohold space would be refilled with loot and salvage collected from the sites.

The T3 Cruisers would mainly provide DPS.

The Stealth Bombers would be back up DPS and do surprise hot drops on any hostile ships that show up while the Fleet is running sites.

The Force Recon Cruisers would provide EWAR / Logistics / DPS as well as light the Covert Cyno.

The Black Ops Battleship would provide the Jump Bridge for the Fleet and also help with DPS.


All ships would do site clean up and if a large hostile group shows up in system, the Covert Exploration Team can easily cloak up and wait out the group or just go somewhere else.


Like I said, it's just an idea. Obviously it would be a group effort, not something I would attempt solo. The personal Mobile Structures would probably help a lot.

If your talking about running a black ops 10/10 ninja fleet.
You'll need 3 rr tengu, black ops bs, & blockade runner for ammo/fittings/fuel. Use mobile depots {one for each pilot} to refit subsystems.

Do you mean that the Black Ops Sin that you get go to waste?


Because moving my Battleship between gates is dangerous (as I usually get tackled) I am unable to do the escalations I sometimes earn after completing an anom, so they expire. If the Sin (or other blops ships) was a worthy PvE ship then I could move a covert cyno ship to where the escalation is, usually 4 jumps away, and jump the Sin into the system without having to jump it through any gates.

Yes, the main problem is tanking, so more Black Ops BS would provide more tank.
It would also increase the risk of higher loss...

I believe the 2nd best tank in that group are the T3...

The main idea of my BR is for transport of goods as a Jump Freigther would be transporting goods.
Sure it is many jumps fewer than a JF.
However, when having to deliver in 0.0 or other, it can be more cost efficient than a 5b + ISK JF.


Maybe any other Covert ships than a Black Ops can only use the Covert Cyno in the same or adjacent system.
It is more likely that they have to be in the same system.
That is the same as using a bookmark, and requires gate jumping to get there.


The Force Recon:
"EWAR" Caldari + Gallente? / "Logistics" Pilgrim? / "DPS" Low
the previous description are only cached at this time + history removed.

Applicable to all 4:
A.
Recon Ships Skill Bonus: ...and 20% reduction in CPU need for cloaking devices per level.

B.
Role Bonus: 80% reduction in liquid ozone consumption for cynosural field generation and 50% reduction in cynosural field duration.

Note: can fit covert ops cloaks and covert cynosural field generators

Minmatar Cruiser Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to Medium Projectile Turret rate of fire and 10% bonus to target painter effectiveness per level

Also, an additional or more important point is, the scouting.
A 3rd and if not equally important point is the ship to light the Covert Cyno.

First off, the Covert Cyno.
The value of the Force Recon is 7.5 times that of a Bomber or Covert Ops Explorer Frigate.
It makes the risk of loss of using a Bomber or CovOp Frigates better and more efficient.
The only bonus gained by the Force Recon is the cyno time being half, and 80% less fuel cost.

That doesn't cover for the value of the ship at risk.


As for the Scouting...
There is no way to scout without a rookie ship I'm afraid.
There needs to be eyes in the system to know what is going on.
Even a 20m Bomber or CovOps Frigates compared to a 150m + Force Recon can be destroyed if trapped.

These eyes that should be used to get the way to the path seeked are used by enemies to counter it.
It becomes more evident in Null sec with often less enemies or zero in local.
You can normally tell easily that if you constantly find 2 or 3 in local jumping gates that an ambush is near.
That is where the Rookie Ship will survive to tell about it while other Covert ship will be detected.

Even knowing that there are potential enemies trying to attack the Covert fleet won't make it easier to move.
The same gate jump traps remain for the Covert Cyno to be lit.
The Rookie ship cannot light a Covert Cyno.
To lit or normal cyno would be useless...


All in all it makes travel in null sec and low sec pretty much anything but hard and high risk.
Anyone with a vendetta against them will fall prey to the 40k+ other players trying to get their things.
Not only do they want a claim to it, but if they can get their things, will use it to party.


I've seen many Covert fleet which do function however.
It only comes at a high number of participant, with scouts, and eyes and more.
There are also a lot of politics involved in maintaining the balance of powers.
Those balance of powers are part of what makes the fleet remain free from attacks.

They are limited to the systems they travel to and the objective + goals they seek.


Solo play as the most efficient results for me, that option is without merit, a waste of time and rendered vain.
I already know the results by now, even before having to waste my time trying to get accurate test results.
Of course all that could change if there were others to join my cause.

Right, well, moving a covert cyno ship is easier said than done.
Anyone knowing that you carry the device can be out to get you as well...
And rightfully so, many POS attacks start with that. And that means sovereignty takeover as well as taking things.

That is why the rookie ship is so important if not priceless.
