I wonder how much of the total tourism to Iceland are people going to fanfest.

Tourism may increase a lot more if there was a "sack a castle adventure package."

You could always re-enact Frodo and Sams trip across Mordor and toss a gold ring into a volcano.

Also they have a penis museum and yummy sharkBig smile

Probably get more visitors if everything wasn't so goddamn expensive over there.

there are more eve players than Icelandic citizens.

we could drop a few SBUs next fanfest, and with any luck, probably trigger Ragnarok.

fun times.

Feel free to put up courier orders to :

"Volcanic rock in North Atlantic, several hours by sea or air from anywhere else"

I'm sure you'll make a fortune P

Edit - just remember you'll need to either run aluminium or fish products back the other way Lol

I bet goonswarm is already plotting the hostile takeover of Iceland and make it a new renter empire...

Does railgun ammunition come in Hollow Point?

It would be tempting to buy up the hotels around fanfest and double the current rates, just for fun.

Iceland is a starkly beautiful country with a fascinating history and an almost alien landscape. It's a lot easier to get to - when its volcanoes aren't popping their caps - and English is widely spoken.

Also people travel more and more; especially to places whose culture is reaching out to them - Eve may be the greatest but Iceland has produced, and produces many amazing things.

That's all well and good. Kudos all around. However, does that mean there's anything to DO in Iceland?
Vegas has been a hotbed for criminal activity and liscentious behavior since it was just a wide spot in the road, and guess what...you don't get frostbite in Vegas!

I've never understood the allure of gambling. It's exactly the same as flushing money down the toilet, only they serve drinks while you gamble.

I'm going to Iceland later this year during my tour of the Nordic countries. Looking forward to seeing the EVE monument.

I was just thinking, someone could do well for himself taking pictures of the monument, along with a picture of a person's name, maybe rubbing the name onto a piece of paper, etc, and offering such services to silly EVE players.

Actually Iceland has a LOT to offer the tourist. I can't justify the ticket for Fanfest alone, because for the same $$ I can go surfing in Hawaii... which I try to do anyway once a year. I have been kicking around the idea of going to a fanfest b/c there's some really sweet s*** in iceland. They have this freshwater/brakish scuba dive you can go on, following a fault line in a heavy cold-water wetsuit that looks cool. Volcanoes galore (I'm a geology buff) and did you know Iceland was once covered in forest? It's true... but the locals cut the trees down not realizing it takes like 10k years to establish that ecosystem. A lot to see and learn. And I hear the people are just awesome. I'll do it at some point... but Iceland is a good tourist location for sure.
