I heard that there are people out there who actually try to translate the "value" of a fictional electronic coinage known as "ISK" into actual real-world currency.

How is that for insanity?

He denies that he was involved in the bit-coin founding. Still, everything I needed to know about bit-coin I learned from eve-online's EBank.

It's a good thing CCP smelled something fishy about this whole bitcoin thing awhile ago and put a stop to that stuff here.

This just means he's been mining it since the beginning, no? The source for the system is open. He can't programmatically skim from it or anything.

No. You are not an expert, you are not even equipped with the knowledge to guess, assume or even speculate about bitcoin so do yourself a favor and don't.

While it is true that it was much easier to hash BTCs a few years ago, it is just moronic to think that the man created this as ticket to get rich when it is only relatively recent that you have begun to see something that this close to a digital gold rush post-dot-com crash.

If the person, that has that much 'currency', and truly believe that paper and metal coinage is reaching the end of their existence, there is perfectly good reason to believe the person is extremely motivated to horde as much as possible while still making the 'currency' as 'stable' as possible.
