Add "Testing Mode" to station fitting tool

As far as I know, there is no way in game to activate modules so one can check different defense modules or weapon/ammo combinations visually. One must launch the ship to activate the defensive modules and load/unload ammo to see the ranges while mouse over the weapon mod.

If the station fitting tool had a "Testing Mode" then I could see immediately how changing the defensive fittings would affect things. Maybe there could even be a weapon/ammo tab where you could click on a weapon to select it, then click on the quantity of that weapon type, then it would show each ammo type that that weapon would fire. You could then mouse over each type of ammo and visually see the range/drop off changes of each, and also see the paper DPS changes of each.

I do remember as a new player how confusing it was to look up each different module, then I found the compare tool. But this would go far beyond that and make it so much nicer.

+1, would make the art of fitting much more accessible, especially for new players.

Mostly, I tend to agree with those who say there's really no need for an in-game equivalent to PYFA/EFT. However, a simple addition to the fitting window to display stats including active mods on/off would not be unwelcome.

new players buying stuff, rolling the dice on it all fitting, then seeing what it actually does after would be the wrong way to go about learning this.

Even I with core eilte fitting and lots of other 5's I find fits from time to time where the poster of it left out 1 small detail....this fit assumes PG implants lol.

EFT tells me of this before I spend 1 isk. Trust me its better this way. As I know from experience when I started cold fitting fresh after buying at a hub tends to end not very well for you. Works out bad enough and your new player is learning something else new...how to work eve markets as they resell items they can't use.

I agree with the turning hardeners on to see EHP in the fitting window, but you can already do the ammo thing by just hovering over one of the guns and changing ammos in the station.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

This^

I guess marketers would benefit from clueless noobs buying modules they don't need but using EFT or Pyfa would be the smarter choice.

So far looks balanced, about the same say nice (at least in part) as say "not needed."

Anyone else have a reasoned opinion?
