esc key not working

my esc key is not longer working as of today

i see this is a problem from 2011 but with not answers from a dev on how to fix it

have you guys looked at sound drivers - since every time i use VLC when eve runs the both crash

it was a crash like this today that my esc stopped working (skype also crashed)

win 7
asus xonar DX audio
mx5500 keyboard

i repaired the install via the launcher - still same problem

esc doesnt work at char selection or in game as well as other multi key commands
