Freezing out competition by unfair measures in form of intel is not really a mechanic I find encouraging. Also, you cannot prevent the sale or purchase of stuff from unfriendly orders, unless you change the mechanics of how the market works, as stated above. With visible names of the order's owner you only make it easier in fiercely fought over markets, such as certain NPC 00, for lager groups to push competition out of the market without any risk or cost.

With regards to your example: Yes, why not. Everything involves cost and investments in EVE, and free availability of intel is despised if you read the forums. So, it comes down to your will to invest money in learning who your competitors are or just ignore them and undercut them as per usual.

Sure, ammo and single mods by contract. Its just as easy as asking an alliance-mate to adjust a friendly sell order for you to buy those same mods and ammo.

As far as freezing out competitors - no you can't 'prevent' the purchase or sale of items. If an unfriendly order is the 'most competitive' order in the stack, at that trade hub, your choices are:

A) Buy from it anyway.
B) Refuse to buy from it, and go to another hub.
C) Postpone your purchase until a friendly supplier 'underbids'.

But, it would allow you, as a nulsec NPC hub buyer - to identify 'unfriendly' orders and allow you to choose whether or not to give that player your ISK - rather than blindly giving ISK to an unfriendly/unknown supplier. Freezing out a trader would depend on simple discipline within the ranks of those that most use that trade hub. Informed choice is a good thing, right?

As far as 'yes, why shouldn't you have to transact with an order to learn the owner of the order' - my point of reference is local chat. Yes, its used as 'radar' - but its not going away. If it did, the carebear tears would wash us all away.

If 'local radar' is the standard for intel while 'flying in space', why should industrial/trading players be provided a cloak of secrecy which can cost hundreds of millions - or billions to penetrate? Especially when they are using a public tool like the markets to profit in almost complete safety? Trading is, after all, the most profitable, and safest - profession in the game.

Further, If I have identified a market bot -why should I have to buy or sell to it several times before I can even report it to CCP? Should I have to buy multiple Falcons from it before I can finally submit a petition?

Some want to be anonymous.

I think either a system that makes everyone anonymous or that makes everyone visible is equally good, because both are forcing people out of their comfort zone. Even better would be if some station markets record such info and some don't, then we can see if people bother moving their markets over such a thing.

All of the orders are done through brokers anyway. IMO it shouldn't be possible to determine who's who on the market at all.

didn't read, but market orders should light up according to the standing the seller/buy has to you.
