For those who think this is an in game feature or has anything to do with EVE game development; this was made for the BOFFO Designing Fashion pop-up store in New York city. It simply uses our technology.

Well, the page says:

"Formichetti's inspiring design has been fully realized into the virtual setting of EVE Online on a virtual avatar copy of signature model Rick Genest (AKA Rico the Zombie Boy) by the artists, programmers and animators at CCP Games using their own industry-leading technology."

Sounds kinda conflicting. Mhh, I wonder how these art fellows who probably have never touched a computer other than a macintosh can use your technology - just like that. Without any work involved by your own guys. Impressive.

Guess what buddy - while they're making a virtual catwalk for Mr. Full-Facial-Tattoo-And-Other-Bad-Life-Choices , CCP's already suffering the consequences of core product neglect.

It simply uses our technology. Our engine was used to digitize a real life fashion model (yes, including the tattoos) and display designs made by Nicola Formichetti.

So just confirming, no CCP manpower was used to develop any of this?

OR

Did CCP waste time building that virtual catwalk that could have been our cyno effect, or another ship skin?

No one can be that daft...

Come on, what he meant was that this feature was not developed for EVE ingame use. Of course it was built by EVE developers, but it will not appear in EVE.

edit: Christ people, are you now trying to nitpick at how CCP uses it's ressources?

Ad hominem. That's already admitting defeat. A bit early don't you think?

The point is that people in this thread are complaining exactly about that - EVE developers being used for show-off projects outside of eve. The GM's post made it look like that didn't actually happen. So my post is spot on.

There are really no words to describe.

Barbies in Space comes to mind.

And to think, that could have been spent developing new ship skins, or the cyno effect, or engine trails, or pos fix, or do I need to go on?

No sir, this is just disbelieve at the state of mind of some members of the EVE community.

I was not telling them how to spend the money i paid them, I said I lost faith in their upper management decisions.

Explaining the lack of new Eve content by telling us the art team was overstretched because everyone is working on WoD, Dust, Incarna and NeX and then seeing them allocating ressources to produce a virtual fashion show for some gross designer and his freak-model just adds insult to injury.

I can't figure what amount of coke it takes to turn a normal person into a complete loon, driveling about 1000 $ jeans and making decisions like these...

Personally, I like to see them working on fleshing out the world of Eve. For Eve's lifespan, the universe it's been set in has existed only in the realm of fan fiction posted on their site. It's never once been really represented in game. What most people fail to realize about goofy bullshit like this is that it's a stepping stone to further fleshing out of the world in which Eve takes place. They're giving stuff that takes place in the Eve universe but was never seen before a physical representation.

For the years I've been playing, development delays have been AT THE ABSOLUTE WORST minor inconveniences. Yeah, CCP has fallen short of their goals in the past, but I'm still having fun with Eve, and it's still trundling along as they develop their tech. People need to stop getting their dicks tied in knots of little, mostly inconsequential things.

Eve is, at this point, the single most interesting and unique MMO on the market. I'm willing to let them ride on that for a good long while.

Who cares about the frikkin' clothes?!?!?

The Zombie Tattoos should be for sale!!!!!

By the way those are actual tattoos that guy has...going to be fun if he ever has kids...his children wont be having many sleepovers I bet...

Wikipedia:

Genest grew up in Châteauguay, a suburb of Montreal. According to his mother he waited, out of respect for her and his father, until the age of 16 to get his first tattoo. He then left home at 17 after graduating from high school, but it was not until the age of 21 that he would first come to Montreal tattoo artist Frank Lewis, since then responsible for inking the majority the designs on his body, which they create together.

This has taken over three years, Genest spending thousands of dollars on the artwork, conceived by him to be "about the human body as a decomposing corpse – the art of a rotting cadaver.", and "also a tribute to horror movies", a favourite genre of his. He would become popular in Montreal's "underground scene", but struggled for money and eventually found himself homeless.

Next EVE players will demand streaming video in the CCP cafeteria so we can complain any time one of the devs take an extra five minutes on his lunch break.
