silly thread

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

I'm sure that by now you have all heard/read about Russia's illegal invasion and attempted annexation of Ukraine. I humbly request that CCP block all traffic originating from Russia to put pressure on Russian EVE player's to in turn put pressure on their politcians to end this war. This is a chance for CCP to generate some REAL positive publicity and do some good, instead of some expensive boondoggle statue in the middle of the Icelandic tundra.

i think it is good idea.

Russia should be banned right after USA and EU get banned for Iraq, Afganistan, Libya and all other wars.

Something you all have to remember is that for many Russian players, EVE is not only a game but their primary form of income as well. Hit 'em in their wallet.

I'm sorry, but...

What the **** kind of stupid is this? Since when are the decisions of the Russian government the responsibility of Russian EVE players? I don't like seeing Cyrillics on local any more than the next guy, but come on! How is it their fault?

Here, let's say, the next time the US invades someone else's sovereignty, we ban all American players as well. You know damn well the people there have more power over their government than Russian people do. No, this is all Putin. If he plays, ban him. The people? The people of Russia get the **** end of the stick every day, but they take that stick and do the best they can with it.

Go suck a lemon, and keep your politics OUT of EVE. This is a place of sanctuary and escape from reality.

March, damn straight. I'm not at all ashamed to say I can agree with you on this. We don't agree on much, but you've got this one in the bag.

Under that logic all Germans should be banned for what happened in WW2, all English should be banned for 800 years of subjection and persecution of the Irish. The Irish should be banned for the ongoing terrorist activitys in northern Ireland.

The Chinese should be banned for Tibet. Ect ect ect

The list of countries goes on and on .

Politicizing belongs in real life not in a game

This is exactly the sort of logic that let Germany host the Olympic games in 1936.

wow, mistaking video games for real life....impressive. Interesting to see some people unable to separate the real world from a video game. That is EXACTLY what all forms of entertainment need- to be slaved to real world happenings- and of course only ones that some nobody player cares about this week. Roll

Given the massive deprivation and starvation in the world, perhaps the oh-so-concerned OP could stop spending money on games and instead make a difference by feeding children in the third world?

No? Not willing to part with a game to improve the real world? "Making a difference" means some unseen, unimportant, and useless gesture in a fantasy internet realm full of people in industrialized nations with a stable power grid and food in the fridge.

Nope- this is what passes for 'action' in the modern world. This is what nerds mean when they pretend to be politically aware, globally concerned, or any other pseudo-activist nonsense they find time to regurgitate sound bites from some biased news site.

Some people are doctors without borders, armed peace-keepers, lobby in venues that actually matter for change.
Some promote lame protests among nerds in a video game.

My Hero.

I'm sure Putin will order the immediate withdrawl of Russian forces because some gamer nerds in an obscure MMO can't trade PI in Jita due to the servers being shut down in protest. Yes, in fact I'm sure that all the world's problems can eventually be solved by gamer dorks throwing hissy fits over real world political unrest that they are frankly unlikely to even grasp. But boy do those regurgitated sound bites make one sound smart, huh?

The sheer impotence of so called activists is comical. Lame demonstrations of outrage amount to inconveniencing oneself, slightly, and calling that protest by way of self-sacrifice.
Is it too late to suggest following in the footsteps of monks in Vietnam, and the OP dousing himself in gasoline and lighting a match?

Bannning all Russian players is silly. Just ban these guys: https://gate.eveonline.com/Search/Index/putin#/Search/NarrowBy/Pilots/putin

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

And yet, this still had nothing to do with WWII. They would have declared war whether they hosted the Olympics or not. It's irrelevant. It's your kind of logic is the sort that leads to divisiveness, segregation and exclusion of people who have done nothing wrong, nothing more.

Also, for those non yanks keeping track at home, there's a pretty good chance that if the OP isn't a troll he's an American. This is actually how a lot of Americans think and should help give you an understanding of how utterly out of touch with anything one might consider reason our society is.
