real quick and dirty... about 400 days if an Amarr pilot went from a new egg to an Avatar pilot with 5s in gunnery, captial guns, and doomsday. I have to say about because I'm not going to nitpick it to death. Without a remap or implants you are looking at over 530 days. With a remap and an immediate train to cybernetics 5 to get +5 implant it would be around 400 days. If you happen to have the starter boosters you might be able to knock off a couple more days.

Oh and you'll need about 6.5 billion isk worth of skill books in the process.

It's hard to estimate correctly because it would depend on how well you optimize your training with implants and neural remaps, but if you want to fly the ship with good skills and use all of its systems and modules with good skills, i'd say it's at least 4 years of training. That said, most of the skills you'll pick up on the way are useful for every other kind of ship anyway.

I'm not necessarily saying I want to get into a titan.

I just want to know the lengths those who've gone before have put themselves through to achieve the maximum potential of a singular individual in the galaxy of new eden. But within the scope of todays new players. How long for a noob.

I'm not sure titan piloting skills have any relevance to individual potential, but okay.

By the seat of my pants, I'd guess maybe 4-5 years or so to max out all skills for a titan and its fittings. Mind you, the last 2 years would probably be spent squeezing out that last 5% efficiency (potential?), so whoever is doing this either has to love training skills, or passively do it on an alt.

The titan pilot would also end up crippled in a variety of non-Titan-essential skills (e.g. drone skills, smaller ship skills, electronic warfare skills) which would make him quite useless at everything but using a dreadnought/titan. That's why my first comment about individual potential. Excepting the few big battles where titans get deployed on the field (they're too vulnerable and expensive to throw around all the time), the titan pilot will spend 99% of his time being a glorified space taxi to jump sub-capital ships from place to place.

Maximum what of individual who? Are you seriously consider titan pilot character as most powerful character in Eve? I know you do because I saw your posts in GD about frigs being useless and newbies being prisoners of skill queue for a year before they can do anything.

Titan pilot is just specialized alt for very specialized purposes. While amount of training and money needed for making him viable is considerably bigger than in case of other specialties and ships it is nothing godlike about him. Once he boards titan hull he will never leave it until ship get exploded or sold. Yes, very exciting career indeed.

Install EVEmon from that link, and you can get exact numbers and tune them as desired. There are also two "types" of titan pilots: real pilots and babysitters (just have the skills to sit in a titan and log out, leaving your main free to do other things).

The question you need to ask yourself is why you want to fly a titan at all.

They are the best ship in the goal at one thing - dealing huge bursts of damage (on a long cooldown) to player-controlled capital ships. They are almost totally worthless at everything else (other than transporting allies as a taxi).

If you want to master a ship that's a true jack-of-all-trades, skill up a pilot that focuses on strategic cruisers. You can have good skills in one of those much more quickly than a titan too.

Don't forget things like Biology V.

But many new players who will undoubtably read this thread should be made aware that choosing to skill right up to a Titan from day 1 is ALMOST ALWAYS a bad idea. Titans aren't as much fun as you (the brand new capsuleer) think they are, for reasons you will learn as you play for a while.

It's an interesting skill question, but a bad first career choice.
