Addendum, May 13th:

Thank you all for the questions. We got a lot of great questions and the reception was more robust than we had expected. We were obviously a bit optimistic about the deadline for answering everything so you will see answers trickling throughout next week at least (this weekend might be slow). We will fulfill our promise of answering every single question. None shall be left behind.



The last reply on the answers thread was posted 2011.07.29 by CCP Greyscale.

So now you have made active these "new" forums, I suppose you are just going to let slip the old stuff.

Not really surprising - since CCP has a very good history of making statements and only making an half arsed attempt at following them up. Is this yet another to be added to an already long list?

Are you even going to make an attempt at actually finishing something you have started?

Go ahead... surprise me in a positive way for a change...

They answered quite a lot from what I remember. You can't honestly expect for them to keep it going forever. Plus most the answers where pointless anyways, A lot of 3-5 year Etas, might look into it, possibly in the future, Soon™.

It is yet another case of CCP having a good, welcome idea to the community then failing to deliver on a promise in any reasonable timescale.

I get tired of their apathetic attitude TBH and if/when I do quit playing it will be one of the major reasons after 6 years watching CCP never improve on this.

I had one simple question in that thread "Will the devs answer our questions?". And although there wasn't a specific answer given, I think I have my answer.

There are a finite number of questions and a lot of duplicates. Given some kind of systematic approach and since many of the answers were fluff anyway (as you've noted) the whole thing could have been knocked out in a month tops.

The real problem is that this is just another sign of the overwhelming disdain that CCP feels for its customers. CCP management is having a really tough time lowering themselves below their self-perceived awesomeness to interact with the 'unwashed'. Because they've done it before, answered some questions, made some promises, and found it was just too much effort to follow up. This is what they have to say about it:

"CCP responded that it was already paying the long-term cost of having given such definitive answers in the
past and was learning from this prior experience by not doing the same thing again" - CSM July 2011 emergenvcy summit minutes.

CCP are now unable to answer question due to the NDA being in place.

We are very sorry however in the future **** removed due to NDA**** and hope that with measure taken place things will improve in the future.

Is this a direct response to the CSM asking specifically about the Answers Thread?

I used to have a thread that did a countdown. But at 100 days I gave up. If they don't answer by 100 days, they clearly aren't ever going to. Since we know for a fact that they read all of these threads, you can safely concur that they've decided to abandon the thread. Its unfortunate that they can't seem to bring themselves to simply post a reply saying "We're sorry. We promised you the thread but it was just too much effort. Thanks for your interest. We'll do our best to answer one way or another in due time." Or something like that. No matter how you look at it, its basically a bizarre interaction. Its not like no one has noticed. You may as well reply.

Anyway. Out with the old, right?
