ok I just setup a new mining t1 planet in a 0.2 system.

I have 7 basic factory's all making circal structures. suppose to take 3000 units of no cs crystals per cycle.

I had 29000 units in launch pad.

started routing them to the factories and ran out after only routing 5 factories and was only enough to fill half of the 5th one.

I should have been able to do 9 factories with 29k raw materials so there clearly taking more then the stated 3000.

so what's the true amount needed per cycle so can setup mining the right amount of raw mats needed.

just got another cycle of 5392 units of crystals routed them to 6th factory took all 5k for 1 factory

The input queue is 3000. When they start they use 3000 and empty the queue, so you need another 3000 to fill queue = 6000 total to fill a factory..

Also be sure to ALWAYS have routes that either begin or end on storage of some kind (launch pad, command center, storage).

Example: Extract P0 and process to P1

Route 1: Extractor -> Storage
Route 2: Storage -> Factory
Route 3: Factory -> Storage

ya that's way I have it setup

extractors to Launchpad
launch pad to factory
factory back to launch pad

Quoting because it seems like you missed this part.

Because the factory immediately had enough resources to start a cycle, it did so. Then it filled up the queue again. It did this before the next factory was processed by the routing algorithm. You would have needed 6,000*7 or 42,000 to fill all seven factories.

3000.

Each cycle uses 3000 units of P0, a factory additionally stores up to another 3000 cached for the next cycle (the yellow/dull yellow circle around the factory). Hence initially a factory will take up to 6000 units (3000 to start processing on, 3000 to store ready for the next cycle) and from then on each factory will take 3000 units per cycle.
