Why leave data/relic sites unfinished?

If I run a site I finish it so that another site will regenerate somewhere - hopefully nearby. But lately, I've found tons of sites that have a few cans left. Not all of the remaining cans are just trash or empty.

Why do people do this?

p.s. Is closing the window on the mini-game (twice) the fastest way to blow up a worthless can?

They got interrupted by a neutral/hostile.
The can was semi crap, 1 interface circuit, etc.
They are only farming the area once and moving on.
Trolling?
Kebab came to the door and they had to log off.

Because only one can is worth it in data sites, otherwise most are <10mil. Relic, a lot have less than 10 also, which just isn't worth the time.

Some people do it on purpose just to **** people off Lol

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

People are scanning the best loot, and leaving the rest.

Why leave the rest? Because the aspergian/Ritalin-head min/maxer can't be bothered with the extra time it takes. They have to get to that next site chop chop and maximize that ISK per hour in the most minimum time possible or their RL beta-ness will haunt their game play.

I always scan the cans with cargo scanner. And often found that the scan lie to me.

One site some weeks ago showed me an EMPTY can!
But I worked on it anyway just to see if this was real. And it dropped a 10-Run Blueprint for MicroJumpDrive. Lol

Try scanning multiple times... It doesnt always show up on the first go, due to skills...

I take what is worthwhile and leave the Sig up to slow down the competition from reaching further Sigs.

You realize that after one can is unlocked a timer starts and the site will poof and respawn?

Nice of you to be what you think is a good citizen though.

I was taught this lesson.

This guy had scanned all of the sites in system, and was waiting for someone to clear one, then he started hunting. He got me when I was done with the 2nd of the 4 sites in system. Sadly (for me) I had just gotten a valuable datacore and it dropped as loot.

He was nice enough to explain how he was able to find me, though.

When I used to hang in Goonsec I'd use the analyser on each can once without trying to hack it. Just click and close. My theory was I'd used up one of their chances out of the two though I don't know if the chances reset or not. It was amusing to think it didn't, they'd fail, it'd pop and they''d be wtf fugg CCPPP.

Probably does reset though.

While you are warping to the site where I left cans with junk, I am warping to the site with potentially good loot.

In other words, why would I increase the chance of a competitor going to a site I haven't visited yet?

Most of the cans are worthless, no one who wants to make isk efficiently is going to waste his time on them. The whole loot spew mini-game was a bad idea, and only gets worse with time.

Because I'm not going to play the hacking minigame and then the twitch tractor beam extravaganza minigame and get several hundred isk worth of Electronic Parts just so some shmuck other than me can make ISK.

Am I playing EVE right, guise?!

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?
