RP to LP conversion?

I reactivated one of my alts after a 6 year break, and it's got around 400,000 RP for the old Research Agents.

What do i do with these now? I know buying the datacores for them is no longer profitable. Is there a way to convert these to LP? What is the conversion rate?

Its hard to be unprofitable at the cost of 10k isk/core. Buy datacores.

Not sure if serious or not... I've read in numerous places that CCP phased our R&D agent passive datacore mining by making it unprofitable compared to other methods.

And i am still confused if i can do anything else with my RP, such as convert them to LP.

They did significantly nerf it. The majority of datacores come from sources other than R&D agents now, resulting in them being lower value. So in that sense its less profitable (you won't be plexing any accounts with R&D agents), but some profit is greater than no profit, which is what will happen if you don't cash out with datacores.

I could be wrong here, but I have never heard this (google turns up nothing). Hence my advice to use them for the one thing I know them to be good for.

RP cannot be converted to LP. You may be confusing the issue with using LP to buy datacores from faction warfare corporations.

You're sitting on 400k RP; the only option is to cash them in on datacores, then sell the datacores. At a cost of 10k ISK per, saying you aren't making any money on a just reactivated alt that was passively generating those RPs all that time is just a waste of time and bandwidth.

As a passive income goes, RP agents are not worth the training time or the standings grind required to start them up. However, if you already have them started, leave them running. They are a bit more ISK than you would have otherwise.

Every few months when I get bored I spend all my RP on datacores and sell them in the station they are at. Even the lowsec station one of my research agents is in. I don't think they are even worth hauling to anywhere better.

RP accrual stops the moment the account goes inactive.

CCP Soundwave nerfed the living daylights out of data core farming. In his crusade against "passive" income he threw the baby out with the bathwater and now you just have to spin buttons all day in a quad-stabbed condor that is useless for anything but spinning buttons, and there's your data cores magically appearing through the awesomeness of the fnardling FW LP store.

Having got that off my chest, you'll find that you pay 10k ISK for each data core, then sell them for around 100-200k ISK. So there's a profit to be made. I just would never recommend to a new player to go through the standings grind and skill training just to get access to R&D agents. They still sell for a decent amount, but it's not the kind of income that you'd get excited about anymore since you're only producing half as many and 10% of your income is already gone in purchase cost.

In your case, you've got the R&D agents already, so make use of them. I've been reminded about my agent now, so it's time for me to go visit my agents and update who I'm working with. 400k or so of RP on each of three characters per account is nothing to sneeze at. It's a nice birthday present.

Yeah, i did some proper estimates with actual number of RPs for each agent, and it's coming up to be 1.16Bill. Great lump-sump, but over 6 years, that comes up to only 500k per day.... Plus the volume equals daily Jita volume... can't just dump it all at once.

Really? I guess i got all that before this change went into affect
