Hi fellow capsuleers!

I am very to the game and have come up with a sort of a progression plan for myself in eve. I enjoy the aspect of EVE that I have to take a long term view of things. In the end I intend to experience all aspects until I find the 'right' career for myself. Initially I thought exploration would be my career, and while I still enjoy the idea of it, I want to experience a bit more before I focus on the one aspect.

The progression plan is more or less as follows. I am aware that I dont know enough of the game so the plan will no doubt change as I learn new things and discard others.

1. SoE Epic arc
For this arc I am outfitting the Minmatar that can be found in this guide http://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtopic.php?f=128&t=7105

2. Level 1 and Level 2 Security missions
I will use the same ship I am outfitting for the SoE epic arc. From what I understand that setup should serve me well for level 1 and 2?

3. While I am running L1 & L2 Security Missions I will start to train my skills to be able to run the Myrmidion that I found in this guide http://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtopic.php?f=166&t=57928

4. Once I have trained enough of those skills and outfitted it with the ISK I made running L1 and L2 missions I will start running L3 Missions and possibly L4 ones as well?

I figure that while running those missions I will be learning enough about the game to jump into PVP and Trading activities. The missions is basically something for me to do while I try to learn as much as EVE as I possibly can to NOT SUCK AT IT!!!! lol. This game can be extremely overwhelming and confusing for someone who is new.

Please have a look at this progression plan and specifically at my choices in ships and outfitting. I look forward to constructive criticism, alternative suggestions or just general advice.

Thanks all!

P.S. EDIT: Can anyone tell me why my links says topic does not exist? When I copy and paste it into my browser it does work though.

first, before you start running missions, you should train some social skills. Social affects your standing gain per mission (this is important), negotiations increases your ISK reward, and connections will let you access higher level agents sooner.

PVP requires a different fit for ships than PVE does. running missions will help you learn to fly your ship, but it wont teach you to pvp.

trade is a different animal altogether. trade has its own set of skills, and those can take up a lot of time to train. you also need to study the market, and it helps to use spreadsheets to keep track of costs.

missions do three things for you- standing with corp/faction, ISK rewards, and LP (which can be converted to ISK through trade). missions teach you how to fight npcs, and the basics of getting your ship to work. if you want to learn PVP, then your best bet is to join a corp that does pvp, or to join faction warfare, and fly a frigate into pvp. you will learn faster with someone to help teach you.

From my perspective the algos allowed me to run everything up to and including the hardest lvl II missions. I trained up drones to tech II for scouts and had average skills for everything else (lvl III). Whilst running these missions for standings I began training core skills (cap skills, powergrid skills etc) up to lvl V. I also moved on to the myrm at that point which is fine for any lvl III mission but may struggle at lvl IV. Most recommend a BS for level IV ,with my tendancy to drones I would go for a domi or a megathron (probably mega as I'm attached to my guns ). Note: I am also leaning towards ishtar as I'm currently training cruisers to lvl V and believe lvl Iv's can be run in one.

I'd say take the time running missions whilst training skills to try different flying styles to see which suits you best. That will affect your choice of ship later. I like being mobile and use rails and drones a lot so will look at ishtar as a stepping stone to proteus. I may well never even buy a BS with the current game state.

SoE epic arc lvl I should be doable in an equivalent of the algos with tech II drones as I completed it in that with ease.

I am equally open to suggestions...

if u want to use gallente droneboats u have 2 possible ways for missions.
Tristan -> Algos -> Vexor/ Vexor Navy Issue -> Ishtar
Tristan -> Algos -> Vexor/ Vexor Navy Issue -> Myrmidon -> Dominix

core skills
pg and cpu management u want at 5 asap
cap skills at 4, 5 is better

weapon skills
weapon upgrade and advanced weapon upgrade nice skills for turret users
Weapon support skills to 4 (5 better but takes to long in the beginning).

Drones
Drone support skills to 4 (5 better but takes to long in the beginning)
train for t2 sentries if u wanna run missions

and for skills i have alot of skills which u will need further not mentioned because to be honest i only took the most important i could think of, so i probably forgot alot.
