So for those of you that ransom pods, what would your usual/generic ransom figures be?

(I'm only new to my life of piracy and don't want to waste time basically)

But to answer the initial question, yes podding is a lovable offence, i love the smell of pod goo in the morning! Lol

Perhaps I should elaborate.

I have a setting on my Overview sets so that it marks people with a bounty on their head with a white skull against a black background. If they don't have that skull, they're in the clear. If there's a bounty...I'll be all over that

Look at my sig, my sig is amazing

Still, if you can at least ransom their pod why not? As you said you're looking to kill the pod if you can get ISK out of it (bounty). Ransoming isn't even killing it.

EDIT: For all I know you do ransom, I see now I've misread your post a bit. Derp.

I fear I have spent too much time in null, for even in hisec I find myself beset with the urge to explode these pods I see flying around without a care in the world...

If I have enough time to lock and point them because they didn't spam warp then they deserve what they get Pirate

One time I even willingly sacrificed a T1 frig to lowsec gate guns just to shoot at a random neutral pod.

Yes, it was empty. Still, no regrets. Pod 'em all!

Capsules pay ransoms. If they have implants folks will (sometimes) pay you not to pod them. Just scramble em and open convo. The worst they can do is say FU. Then you pod them.

I'm in agreement with the other pilot who said ransom > kill; this counts for both ships and capsules. Unfortunately, some ships are just too difficult to ransom and I have to settle for catching the pod.

The answer to this is that it's highly dependent on the situation.

If you're ransoming a ship, pay attention to what the ship is, the cost of the hull, the likeliest fit (check the last loss if you can) and insurance payout. A good starting point is usually the cost of the hull because they'll have to pay that for a new one anyway, plus the cost of the fittings. It will probably go down from there.

If you're ransoming a capsule, pay attention to the age of the pilot and what they just lost. Ransom an older pilot who just lost a pirate cruiser starts out a lot higher than a month-old player who just lost a Venture. I tend to start off with 100,000,000, 30,000,000, 10,000,000 or 3,000,000 and work my way from there to a mutually agreeable sum.

As for me, I pod those who were impolite or didn't pay the ransom. I guess that's fair.

I've let tonnes of folks go on account of them being new or sometimes just not offering enough of a challenge, and i try to avoid podding people unless it is a tactical decision.

I always honor ransoms. 100%.

But if they are refused, I take the pod too, just to make my point.

One of ours, ten of theirs.
