I'm a 3m SP player eager to start in Caldari FW soon. I don't want to farm plexes. I want to actually fight and blow up Gallente ships.

I've been doing a little Jita trading and have built up around 300m ISK.

Firstly, I'd like to ask if that is enough to get going in FW.
I want to buy a bunch of frigates fit for PVP, ship them out to lowsec and get learning. Once I'm plexing I should be able to support myself with the LP I make, but I want a bit of a cushion so I don't have to worry about losing ships too much.

Secondly, what fit would be a good start?
I've been training towards a Kestrel with light missile launchers, so have the skills to fit one of those well.

Thirdly, what's the best way to learn PVP?
I've heard some people say you just have to get blown up like 20 times and make sure you learn from each engagement.

1. SP wise you are always ready if you can fly a frig, fit a weapon and a point. ISK wise, well only fly what you can afford to lose. Say a typical T1 frig ranges from 3 - 5 mil...this makes approx 100 losses before you burned through that ISK.

2. That highly depends on personal preference, skills and most of all the enemy and the situations you end up in.

3. Correct. PvP cant be learned from reading textbooks. You have to learn it on the fly by just going out there and experience it. You can enroll for the next possible Agony Unleashed BASIC class though. It will teach the basics of PvP (By class theory aswel as practical examples + a nice roam).

You're already ahead of many people starting FW as far as ISK and SP. All you need is to be able to fly a frigate decently and replace it many times. You'll find that people in faction warfare mostly fly frigates-cruisers.

I would also recommend you join a corp, as discussing fights with other people is by far the best way to learn PvP. There are many corps devoted to faction warfare in every faction. Take a look at who is in the militia channel and what they're up to. Solo PvP can be very fun at times, but it's frustrating for a new player when you don't know what you are doing wrong.

Message the guy that just blew you up too, you'll find most scary pirates/pvpers are more than happy to tell you what you did wrong, did right, could have done, etc.
