Hello all,

Being gone from game so long, lot of new ships, rolls and changes. I feel like a noob again with playing catch up.

I've always been a brawler, never did kiting and flew only Gal/Cal ships only. Coming back I knew I wanted to fly something new along with trying kiting. After I finished laser training I brought me a Navy Slicer, I recorded the results.

Safe to say I'm a beginner again. Not super leet fights but my objective of learning Amar ships and Kite has been going pretty well. This is just sharing the experience as I go. It worked so well at the end of the video I fit up a thorax with rails to see what would happen. Watch to find out!

Being a brawler I'm learning the value of kite and not having to commit or having the option to leave when a incoming gang lands. I've lost plenty of ships on my return but I have yet to loss something kite fit.

Appreciate any helpful flying tips, relearning how to fly again

Thanks!

Awesome, and next time try to pvp maybe ;)

All i have seen was you against ratters, highly uninteresting, especially the first fight

I mean, i just joined back into the game and need to get back into pvp too but i never would stuff like that use in any videos.

Sorry Mate

Sorry to say bud, but you had actually 2 fights in there. The one with slicer vs vexor, cane and incursus and the one with thorax vs caracal and some frig.

The problem with your video is, that its horrible to watch. Editing is cool and all, but the flying itself is just not there. That was not kiting, that was orbiting. Pretty much each and everyone of those fights you got kills beacause your enemies were horrible, not beacause you were good. Many occations you had sheer luck of not getting webbed/scrammed.

But keep it up man. Good to get more lads on the soloscene. Or old returners :p

So heres my ideas to fix for next vid:

- Get actual fights, where ppl fight back
- Leave simpleton ganks out
- Start to fly manually, even if you fail at it.
- If this is a journey to kiting, include losses and failures aswell
- Better module and or capacitor management

Thanks guys, good advice.

Any suggestions where a loan guy could find some good fights? No not racer or amake, lol.

I roam all over and end up getting caught up in remote reps and blobs. This is two weeks worth of hunting, all I could find. not blobbed up. Thinking RvB or something would be fun again and find something a bit more rewarding like your suggesting.

You have to forgive me about the orbiting, you actually identified something that would be a benefit. Being an old school brawler, tracking and such never really entered in to it. The other day I manually flew up to a Rupture while in an AF going side to side to avoid the damage got tackle and the kill. Watching some youtube videos I found a bunch of great stuff just last night ( like flying manually to avoid damage). Also gate camp separation, I'm sure i'll die a lot at first but I don't care, looks fun :) Can't wait to apply the new found knowledge I've learned.

Thanks again for the helpful suggestions and they way you communicated it too.

Thanks :)

Edit: Will post losses as well, I haven't lost the slicer or railax yet.

Good fights are hard to get, thats why it takes a long time to get enough good footage. Everyone has those issues with blobs and stuff, i believe there is no best place to find them.

lets be fair, this is every pvp video.

the viewability 'problem' with frig long point kiting, in my opinion, is that the speeds are too fast for any manual control, so it pretty much is very linear keep-at-range / orbit play. MWD cruisers are better for videos, as you can demonstrate manual control against multiple targets, but finding good longpoint kite footage is incredibly hard, as the fights take place on a completely different axis than most brawls -- in that you can have a very close fight (as the kiter is just a few kms away from certain death) while having taken zero damage.

anyways, it ends up with situations where you have to take very aggressive fights for good kite footage (see dethnroll 3 - kiting retribution, as well as i Beast's WPE - general russian insanity)

Just reinforcing points that have been said really in that it is hard to have kiting fights and make it look good, for the most part you're orbiting so fast there is little chance to take damage unless you happen to put yourself in a position where you get tackled.

There were a few times in the video where, had they been competent pilots, you would have lost your slicer because you approached them directly rather than adjusting your orbit to chase and as a result easily got into scram/web range.
