Do they

A. Gross you the heck out.

B. Don't even phase you bro

C. Damn now I'm slightly aroused

If you answered C, then

Why hasn't CCP incorporated more worms, and worm-like designs, and names of ships that reference worms and wormy things?

D. Taking the day off to go fishing.

D was my first thought as well!

I think it's hard to do organic technology design well. I think Alien did it well. For an example of how to do it badly, Moya from Farscape comes to mind..

Everyone who answered fishing these are gross alien generic worms not earth worms or really good fishing worms, it's the kind of worm that if a fish ate it it'd probably be tainted by corrupted worm goo or something, sorry.

If you don't have enough Klingon in you to eat worms, then dry the worms and then ground them into a powder. A little water makes a paste that can be fried or added to soups to for a high-protein rue.

Then there's the guinea worm, which starts life in your gut. After a female mates with a male, she starts making her way out of your body. The long way, by burrowing under the skin of your upper leg and heading for the foot. Victims say that feels like having a flaming snake in your dermis. Once it reaches your foot, it migrates up the surface, causes a blister, and releases its larva. All this has taken about a year.

Now that the worm has breached, you can work on extracting it. To do that, you have someone who knows what he's doing massage the area and start pulling the worm. He then slowly extracts it by rolling it around a stick, a little each day. Don't let him get in a rush, because if the worm breaks, you'll probably get tetanus. That used to be fatal, but these days I guess it's just intensely painful and disgusting for a while.
