I've noticed that we got some elderly people playing EvE, and I was thinking now would be a great time to offer them an insurance policy, what would happen if the mittani died tomorrow? Think about helping players pass on their accounts to friends and family by letting them setup an in game will. I know untimely and unfortunate things occur every day in the real world, so wouldn't it be nice to know that your loved ones can keep your immortal character alive when you pass on to oblivion?

I just don't want you all to die without leaving me your stuff :(.

You're right, it is a feature idea.

Hey, don't get me wrong - I think it's a great idea - just more likely to get dev attention if you put it in the right place :P Perhaps a helpful ISD will move it for you.

Hey, they're not going to be using their stuff on account of, you know, being dead. Might as well give it to me.

This is a horrible idea. If a person enters the EVE gate irl, their in game character should remain permanently inactive as well. Imagine if some pubbie were to start playing on respectable accounts where the person passed away irl. No... just no.
Maybe it's a cultural difference, but where I'm from you don't pillage the dead (so to speak). Leave them to rest in peace.

Well I don't agree that pubbies should be allowed to breath the same air as me, I do understand that they too wish to be allowed to play eve if only to support me with isk from flying such expensive fits. Now let me delve deeper into this, what if imagine dragons.

New contract type: will.

Upon character biomass, the will takes effect.

BUT WHY STOP THERE?!

Every EVE player is issued a heartbeat monitor that is linked to the EVE API.

This is painfully inserted by CCP Surgeon inside the player.

Upon dying the character is automatically biomassed.

The blood-curdling scream is recorded and played back to everyone receiving something in the Will upon accepting the contract.

Because when a player dies, do we not all die a little inside?

I just undocked for the first time and someone challenged me to a duel. Wat do?

19.08.2014 - Dinsdale gets slammed by CCP Falcon. Never forget.

So you think it is a good idea if somebody continued playing as Vile Rat?

I, Khergit Deserters, bequeath my character and EVE account to my nephew Benjamin. On the condition that he shall always keep the subscription active, using his own money, in perpetuity. And on the condition that he shall enjoy being mistaken for me, the decendent player-testator, and never rage quit, despite dealing with the many people I have offended or made unfavorable impressions upon, over many years of inebriated ATK gameplay.

I think the idea of passing your stuff on to a player of choice is good. But not the character, And maybe CEO roles to directors would be useful. But that should only apply to corps over 200 members. Just for the general headache it could cause ccp as they would have to prove the person was dead and not just on vacation

Ahar. This is kind of funny...in a nice way...sorta. I'm 58 years old. I suppose that's ancient by some short-sighted standards. (I won't bother to remind you, the kids you influence now could very well be punching your ticket in a very short while, oh ye who never ages.)

I'm leaving my account(s) to my grandson who is six years old right now. Only thing is, with this life expectancy thing, I have another 32 years before I have to start worrying about not logging in anymore. Yeah. I have more time left than a lot of "youngsters" have been alive thus far. Can you believe that?

If you can't, you better start, 'cause it was only yesterday I was 24 years old fighting the communist hordes for your right to post inane crap on game forums....two kids in diapers...feeling immortal...grrrrrrrr Pirate

I guess plain cussedness is the Fountain of Youth in the end. You'll get my game when you pry it out of my arthritic, wrinkled up, liver-spotted hand!

Paradise is like where you are right now, only much, much better.

I'm real. I suppose your keyboard just pounds on itself...interesting.
