Hey leute,

I am training to become a Gallente Droneboat user. I am going to use a vexor and in the future a Domi. I am wondering however ; what type of drones should I use for my droneboats, heavy or sentry? Shocked

P.S ; This is all for PVP purposes

Sentry. Heavies are **** as they are too slow.

Fit MJD. Drop sentries, if needed scoop, MJD away and redeploy.

Brawling, nothing better than heavies. Make sure you have a web and/or painter along to apply damage to Cruiser class ships.

Kiting, most times you are better of with sentries. The notable exception is the Vexxor Navy with it's speed boost to all Drones and the Ishtar with it's special speed and tracking boost to Heavies.

So to answer your question, both. :P

+1 for sentries.

I've had ok luck in a pvp mega using berzerkers. But I wasn't solo, and I wasn't counting on those heavies to do much.

+1 to this. Maybe not in *every single situation* - I can think of a handful of times that I would have rather had a flight of heavy drones handy vs. my sentry drones, but those are way outnumbered by the number of times sentry drones got the job done, and got it done right!

The great part about using Gallente drone boats - once you get into the Battleship class of ships, it's quite possible to carry a full flight of Sentry, Heavy, Medium, and Light with a little room left over (Navy Domi for example has 400m3 drone bay, 5x sentry = 125, 5x heavy = 125, 5x medium = 50, 5x light = 25 -- that leaves you 75 for some extra fun, carry some ECM drones for emergency or some rep drones to fix up your friends, or a few extra combat drones if you lose some in battle).

With the recent sentry drone nerf you have to put a little more thought into how you use them (the max range has dropped a bit), but don't let that stop you - they are still an amazingly powerful tool!
