On topic though....

EVE is not for everyone. Some people can handle it, others can't.

Sorry, but you are simply *wrong*. This is a PVP game. The only place you are safe is while docked. Anything other then docked - all you can do is take steps to minimize your risk and keep your losses down.

Other MMOs have a level based system. Eve does not. Eve is not other MMO's.

The sad part about this - OP is doing it wrong. On my first Eve character, I was introduced to PVP in much the same way it sounds like the OP was - by random acts of violence in high sec when I was quite new. So I took the time to make social contacts, meet and talk to other players, do a lot of research and reading - and I found out that new players are more then able to defend themselves against this type of random aggression.

Instead of rage quitting, OP could be using this experience to learn how to defend himself better, and even how to join forces with others and get some good old internet space ship based revenge. It's easy. I don't care how many skill points some random ganker has, the EVE system provides the players with plenty of tools to level the playing field.

A bounty is most often no more than additional ISK damage to the victim - that they inflict on themselves. Lol

The majority of the bitter vets actually help new players whenever possible.

New players don't notice when someone drops a few million ISK in their wallet.

OOOOH looks like we've got ourselves a crusader here!

Killing you one time is *not* harassment. Placing a bounty on you is not harassment. No, it wasn't me that killed him, BTW.

You are fortunate to have found out so soon that you are not cut out for this game. Better finding out now in a cheap mining ship 18 days in than an expensive mission boat 18 months in.

I do hope he links his rage splerg blog or w/e...I could use a good laugh on this dreary snowpocalypse day.

Beware you will get a lot of **** here, however I do take a different view and players who are new to eve shouldn't be subjected to this crap.

It's a PVP game. Clicking "undock" is consenting to someone else being able to ruin your day. New players already have more then enough safeguards in place to make things easy for them to at least get a basic grasp of how the universe works. Also, as a new player - there's nothing you own of enough value to even worry about losing. If that's not the case, then perhaps we should focus on brand new accounts flying blinged out Navy ships with faction mods? :P

Agreed I do believe something needs to be done to allow new players not to be subject to this kind of crap but at its heart this is what EVE is like it or not really.

Hello,

Gonna make this short, new players, do not subscribe to this game for the ubers will **** you and the asteroid fields, giving u no chance to play.

New players should avoid asteroid fields. Not because of gankers but because mining is dumb.

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise

without those miners dude.. we wouldn't have ANYTHING to fly.. or shoot with.. or build POS's.. you do realize that the ore being mined is the single most important material in EvE? you can't produce ANY ship hulls.. modules.. ammo or anything in EvE with out that constant source.

the only reason then miners are being ganked.. is for

- PVP.. ( note : killing the competitor to keep your prices of ore stabilized or at your accepted price range is both smart/tactical/profitable )

by killing i include wholesale buy-outs .. price gouging under-selling.. etc. ( PvP in the market )

almost everything you buy in EvE is player made..

only a few blueprints & skill books are ever generated by the game.. and in limited numbers.

Harrassment by players putting bounties on you for no reason is no way to welcome new players who have a hard enough time learning the game.

Like all games, EVE is too old with too many grumps having free time to screw other players.

I have uninstalled the game, and will follow up with a detailed explanation of why this skinners bag is too full.
That will be on my forums.

GL you old ubers, there will be no new blood for this game if i can help it.

Do what you can to broadcast your experience with Eve as far as you can, to as many as you can.
The more people that recognize what a cesspool Eve has devolved into, the faster the marketing and accounting people can apply pressure to remove the worst offenders in this game.

…and that doesn't particularly change the fact that mining is dumb and is something new players should stay really really far away from.

It sticks them in a dead end, skill-wise; it reduces their chances of finding a long-term purpose; it reduces their chances of learning the full breadth of useful EVE mechanics; it reduces their chances of engaging in player interaction (which is the best way to ensure that they find a place in the game and stick around).

CCP has made it clear that as a New Order representative my posts are not welcome in NPQA. Since I can't help new players before they are ganked I will educate through antimatter. New players are important to Eve and I aim to see as many as I can introduced to ship violence the way I was. At 3wks my Venture and pod were ganked by a pirate. Instead of creating a Whinney Litttle ***** thread on the forums I made friends with that guy and learned all I could.

So OP, please don't generalize to all noobs. Some of us actually relish and thrive in the unique competitive environment only Eve provides.

Question, where did old 'ubers' come from?

[sound of crickets...]

Just so we are clear, everyone else was able to acclimate and grow in the game without all the recent carebear/crimewatch/hisec nerfs you petition bears now enjoy, and you are STILL being a pansy?

See where this failed road to nerfdom is leading you CCP -- nowhere. There is no nerfing fundamental ineptness.

Well, there is socialism...but not sure how that has worked out in the past...will have to look into it.

Don't listen to this guy, he's obviously has no idea how the game works, like so many.

If you check through the advertisements of this game, you'll notice that it's not a peacefull game.

Having a hard time learning the game is something that should be expected ! Getting attacked or 'harrassed' by others is completely normal! It's a consequence of how the game works: Freedom of Choice. Most new players lack two things:

.) Understanding how the game works and replacing this lack of knowledge with assumptions.

Lots of new players assume things about the game that simply aren't true. There are so many of these assumptions, that I can't even name them all. Some are related to safety, while some people believe this is purely an industry game, others again believe that it's arcade etc etc etc. We should ask ourselves why this is the case, but that's not meant for this topic.

.) Understanding of how to counter or run away.

You can learn both easily by getting attacked and then asking your attackers NICELY wtf happened and what you can do against it! Or you use Google! Or Youtube!

That's it. And it really helps enlightening about what the game, a fully functioning alternative reality, has to offer.
