Drones i realy like DEV response

The changes in drone assist is something i can live with (for now) i think that hull repair drones are nice but i think the omnidirectional nerf is too strong (for certain drones) see this topic


few changes i would dare to call a need as the GUI is so crap specially compared to everything else the only exception is POS`s and people (me included) are screaming to change that and ofc the drone GUI

1. You must be able to see drone damage in bay
2. A carrier should be able to repair drones/fighters in bay i mean its a freaking carrier, other ships might be able to repair drones in bay with a new module or maybe a rig, but i think carriers shouldn't need a module or rig to do so.
3. You should be able to make groups and control them as turrets (example carrier with 12 fighters 4 fighters on F1 and 4 on F2 and 4 on F3) so you can control drones better. So F to let all drones attack or F1/F2/F3 to let a selection switch to another target to get better control specially in a carrier.
4. Attack/mine/repair/salvage with same button, if i am mining i need to right click group and select mine same for repairing with logi drones
5. Drone assist/guard must be possible from fleet window and or the watch list right click the name on fleet or watch list and choose assist/guard
6. Focus fire option is great but it still spreads
7. Sentry drones should receive a bonus from *race* specialization skill i don't care what but they should gain something also ofc they need the *race* specialization to use them i would say lvl 3 or 4
8. more T2 drones ECM (not stronger but little more speed and EHP) and T2 salvage drones would be nice

There's a couple of solid points about the drone management UI here, it's still pretty rudimentary and could use a overhaul. To me the most important thing would be to have "module-like" buttons to control drones.

You could imagine having a dronebay on your ship would generate three extra buttons in the modules HUD :
  • Send drones to target (to mine, attack, repair, or whatever the launched drones can do)
  • Recall drones to bay
  • Recall drones to orbit


These buttons would simply be positionable wherever you want in the module HUD just like any other module.

i think that is not enough tho i would like to add a few to make groups of drones 3 should be enough. so you can set some kind of rule like a few on group 1 and a few on group 2 and also group 3 if needed and then you can spread DPS more easily all guns and launchers can do grouping so why not drones?

2. Why not just use nanite paste? I like the concept.
3. Drag drop groups/items to the regular F1-F8 buttons. I like it
4. This falls under assigning actions to F1-F8
5. I'm not sure how I feel about this one. I agree the current system is awful.
6. Drone AI just needs to be fixed.
7. Unless the 2% per level is very unbalancing, I see no reason why not.
8. Not much to say here, t2 ECM drones could be a little OP though. (20day train might cancel that out however)
- Also regarding the EWAR drones, the 3000m control range bonus should be removed from that skill and either placed in a completely separate skill, or tied to another existing skill.

Good list otherwise. CCP seems to like "Little Things" recently, so do we.

thnx specialy point 5 if in a large fleet its murder to select someone to assist/guard
nanite paste could work for repping drones in bay

I like this especially as it's standing with the previous post. but when CCP bring out the new ewar drone skill and drone control range skill, they should do with them as they did with racial BC and desty skills (tl;dr you get both new skills at the level of the old one)

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it [u]WILL[/u] be.

Drone UI definately needs an improvement, yeah..

However, given CCP logic, we gonna get an awesome looking but terrible to handle radial-menĂ¼ for them...

TLDR:

Don't even try to ask for a drone UI overhaul, because everything they come up with will be worse than what we have now..
