Where do I go?

I've been playing EVE for about a week now, running a few missions here and there in random star systems, mostly focusing on distribution since it's basically the only one available, except security which I dislike. I have finished with the agents at Trossere and I'm thinking about moving on. The problem is that I have no idea where that place may be. So my question is simple: Where do I go?

To continue my career, I figure doing as many missions as possible will be instrumental. I'm trying to get my standings up so I can unlock the level 2 agents, although I've been having difficulty doing so. Still an newb. Roll

My real interest in the EVE universe is mining and shipping, as well as a bit of trading. Engaging in combat with other players doesn't appeal to me.

So, that's that. I am still trying to understand the ropes, still unsure of a ton of information that I am probably completely unaware of... All in good time, I suppose I should begin other paths, but for now, I want to keep to on with what I'm doing.

I thank you for your time,

John Oakman.

Before going anywhere, I highly suggest you read about proper mining etiquette.

The first thing you do is delete your OP and re post in the new players forum where it's not allowed to troll you the way you are about to be trolled.

Trading is where the isk is, and to get into that you need a secondary income stream. Distribution missions work because they don't require large amounts of combat focused SP, and they gain you standings which is very important in reducing taxes and fees when trading. Gotta make sure you're missioning for a corp that owns trade hubs (fed navy for dodixie, cal navy for jita, emperor family for amarr). You also may want to look at some tutorials on how to build a spreadsheet that can import prices for you.

I would caution you on how much SP to invest into mining, as its kind of a dead end profession. The SP don't help for anything other than mining, and you don't get standings out of it either. Its an income source that requires a lot of SP to cap out, isn't impressive once you do, so the the only way to actually scale up is to get more accounts.

Then you go nowhere. You get yourself a mining ship and find yourself a belt, and mine away. Until you get ganked over and over. And bumped over and over. Then you either quit the game, or realize that EVE Online is a multi-player game in which case you find yourself a corporation (any corporation except those that "specialize" in industry because they are just going to exploit you - why pay for something you can do just as cheaply yourself?). Meet up with friends. Do new things together.

Or, you could, you know, explore the "other" side of the game. The dark side. And blow. Stuff. Up. How much stuff? All of the stuff.

Spreadsheet friends are never as sincere as combat friends. Always remember that.

One thing I think every new player needs to know about is DotLan.

This thread is a scam. It reads like a scam. If we were in the same room, it would smell like a scam. Therefore, it must be a scam. I just haven't narrowed it down beyond AWOX, Safari, Newbro give-me-isk, market manipulation, gank bait and/or courier contract scam.

It's one of those. I'm certain of itAttention

I was hunting for sick loot, but all I could get my hands on were 50 corpses[:|]..............[:=d]

Better yet spend ten million tanking your fit and keep aligned to a safe spot, fleet up and get a friend to boost for you.

Don't be a target or a victim.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

I'm throwing up a little, but no discussion of mining and standings would be complete without mentioning L4 mining missions. You get standing, isk, LP, and because of how deadspace pockets work, reduced chance of being ganked. The SP is still totally wasted for anything else.

apart from don't mine. mining is horrible from a fun and an isk angle (unless you multibox dozens of miners).
Don't transport. Manufacturers treat you as a low paid idiot and everyone else treats you as a target/income source.
Combat missions are a cruel joke but done right can be ok income.
wormholes can be good income.
trading is very good income if u like that sort of thing.
manufacturing and PI make ok passive income.
exploration is more fun because the risk of your pve ship in hostile space and gamble on what you find and what it drops.

The two most important bits though.
Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.
Isk is only useful for PVP and pvp is the only really fun bit of eve.
(NB every aspect of eve is a form of PVP but most people don't really get how)

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

There has already been some great guides linked here, but going to add some more to the list.

First off, if you havent done so already you should do the Sisters of EVE epic arc missions. Will give you a decent amount of ISK, as well as help your standings.

Second.
You have a lot of options in EVE, and only you can decide which ones you want to do. Keep in mind that no matter what profession you choose, someone will tell you that "your doing it wrong". Accept it, its just how it is Lol
This link can help you get further ideas on what you want to do long term.

Third.
At this point you should have started to consider leaving your NPC corp. If you are unsure what to expect once you make this jump, you can try to read over this post which covers some of the advantages and disadvantages that comes with your choice.

And as someone mentioned above, for questions like this its better to post in the NCQA section of the forum where there is less chance that you will get trolled Smile

Good luck and welcome to EVE!

You poor soul. It's so sad that this is the introduction new players STILL get to the game, until they finally decide to reach out.

I hope somebody helps you before it's too late.

I'm new too, started a week ago...

I applied to EVE Uni, one of the first days, their application process will guide you in how to set up overviews, and your UI in general, also mentioning things like D-Scan and other basic stuff, which is well worth the read.

Then I did the SOE arc, and went to a NPC corp that has a good amount of research agents, working towards L4's with distribution missions, while I wait for inteview to EVE Uni, it takes a week+.

Yesterday I also went to low sec in my PVE corax... Lol A DJ on EVE radio had a competition killing a guy hiding in a certain constellation, so I just went, I knew I would lose my ship, but it was still fun!
Ended up in a fleet with other people hunting this guy, and of course veterans crashed the party to get easy kill mails! P

What I'm trying to say is, fit something cheap and just go do whatever YOU want, don't give a damn about anyone... play your way, and if someone is in your way, kill them! lol
