Jumping to a Cyno that gets destroyed.

I was reading that if you activate a jump to a cyno and that cyno explodes while mid jump, the ship jumping to that cyno will appear randomly somewhere in system.

* If a bunch of ships try to jump like this, do they scatter across the system?
* Has this mechanic have any uses when done on purpose?

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

This has happened to me once, and the result was that we landed directly in the center of the sun. Which significantly delayed us joining the fleet since trying to move after that results in your getting bumped at several million m/s (maybe more).

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

i could imagine CCP just copied the cyno mechanic to WH mechanic as they created WHs. If they did, the ships will be scattered on cyno destruction just as they would be scattered when a WH collapses while you are going through it.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

You land in the sun going 20,000 m/s and have to come to a complete stop (help yourself and ctrl+space) before you can warp.

Ok, that's interesting. Two people say that you "warp into the sun", and that does not sound "random" to me, that sounds like a warp to like, the "0,0" center of the system.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Ive experienced it both ways. We've been scattered all over a system (fantastic safe spots btw) and weve been in the center of the sun (also fun to bookmark).

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Happened to me in the HED-GP battle last month and we got scattered all across the system.
I guess it is a matter of timing when the cyno is destroyed whether you land at the sun or be scattered.
Maybe someone else could clarify.

Last time I tested this on SiSi (Several year back) I was getting dropped along the route, seemed to me like you dropped out at the time the cyno was destroyed.

In my testing I didn't even make it to the target system.

Happened to me once. I landed in the middle of the sun in the target system and then was ejected at a bazzillion m/s in a random direction which took a good minute to drop down to sub-warp speed and only then could I initiate warp to the required location. I was going through a Titan bridge and think I was in a Guardian at the time. It may well take a lot longer to reach a manageable speed if you were in a Carrier or JF.

I imagine people saying they got scattered around the system are talking about where they finally landed after being ejected from the sun.

I would love it if this was the standard. It would be hilarious, and would help with the cyno issue. Cynos wouldn't always be 'disposable' ships this way. It would encourage being a cyno as a professional choice rather than something your alt does. It would also reduce the game's dependency on alts which is always a good thing.

I mean, for a start it makes more logical sense, and it would add a little more risk to hot dropping (lets face it, it needs more risk). It would be great reading about how an NC super fleet got flung randomly across a range of enemy systems because they used a Heron that got alphaed whilst the fleet was jumping.

Make it so.

I bet CCP's views on this differs.
