Big thanks to the player base

This game has blown my socks off.

I started about 3 days ago, and the amount of support you get from the player base in this game has been awesome. Always someone willing to lend you some helpful advice and even occasionally lend a hand. Goes a long way in a MMO.

So far I have made it through the tutorial missions, had a go at hauling cargo between Jita and Hek, and even finding a few other new players to fleet up with to mission and/or mine.

Even had a couple scary expeditions into wormhole space. Ended up getting invited into a Corp as well which is cool. Though haven't played with a lot of those guys yet, they seemed nice enough in Corp chat and will jump on mumble with them tonight. Hopefully they don't have heart attacks when they realise I am actually female lol.

So far it's been gold, helped a few people out myself, got gifted some gear for my troubles and made a few "mates". Not sure where my eve career will take me at this stage, but am really enjoying the journey thanks to the players I've met along the way. Looking forward to learning more and flying along side you all.

Cheers!

Just understand that as with anything else, there is a "honeymoon period" where you will get a lot of support just for being a new player. The real trick is to learn as much as you can and "find your feet" before it ends. Once it does... you will get little sympathy when you are blown up (and you WILL get blown up). Twisted

As for being female... depends on the group you are joining. Some will be completely relaxed about it... others will give you some good natured grief until you settle in (just establish some "boundaries" when you must and return the favor a bit Blink )... and still others you might want to distance yourself from.

Well, any GOOD player wouldn't care much.

Most people I know in EVE don't care about sex, nationality, race, religion or what so ever, they care about the personality of the person behind the character.

Ooh, and welcome to EVE and in before anybody (most particular NC) hinting to WgoE channelP

If you encounter anyone in a corp you join that becomes creepy when they realise you are female IRL, just remember - you can shoot their ships in highsec without CONCORD consequences. And that's easy to explain when joining future corps - you don't even need to lie.

There's sadly a lot of sexist pig gamers, but in a hypercompetitive game like EVE you can turn this to your advantage by making people underestimate you, then teaching them just how big a mistake they made in thinking that you were just some 'mere girl'. Steal everything you can, burn everything else, and then mock them mercilessly about it.

Haha my new motto!

Nah I'm fine, play a lot of games online and can give it as good as I get so not problem there. Never had an issue really, doesn't matter who you play with, jerks are jerks regardless of gender, colour or creed. Same with good sorts. Like any game, find a good group and stick with em. That's always been my philosophy.

Also don't trust anything at face value :)

If you add "if something bad happens to me then I'll just dust myself off and try again" to that mentality of yours then you will go far in EVE.

Good luck out there.

No use in trying to nick the isk of someone who doesn't have any.

So first you help people to get a footing in the game, then you rob them ;)

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

Expect your wallet to be considerably fatter by the end of the night!

Glad to see so much new blood enjoying New Eden. Just remember:

1. Dont fly what you cant afford to lose!
2. Update your clone!
3. Dont give money to Goons!

I am sure that fearlessness will get me into trouble sooner or later, but for now, I have been sticking by the rules.

If you take it out of your dock, expect. Someone to take it off you. The most nervous moment I had in game so far, was a 13 jump journey with 10mil isk worth of cargo. I had a real sense of accomplishment when I made it to my destination and made a 2mil profit.

My most fun time, doing a suicide run into the deepest part of space I could manage. I am still proud to say I piloted through null sec on day 3. I got blown to pieces, but I also got to see some of the world, and made a bit of cash on the way, salvaging and mining when I was on my own.

By the way, thanks for the blog. It is very good. Some nice underlying tips in there too.

Edit: sorry about the typos, posted from my phone

I'm surprised no one has noted that the amount and kind of support you get from players tends to depend on your attitude.

You seem to have the correct attitude, so people are fine with answering questions and the like.

Take a look at a couple of other threads in this section, you'll see what happens to people with the wrong attitude Smile

Welcome to space. I think you'll fly far.

In a few moments you will have an experience that will seem completely real. It will be the result of your subconscious fears transformed to your conscious awareness.
