Carrier in high sec question

After reading the eve wiki on this I am still somewhat confused so I am going to lay out a scenario and see if I can get a good answer here. Lets say you have a carrier in Null, your alliance/corp decides to split and go back to high sec so now you have no place to park it in null, what do you do?

Do you have to park it in low sec or can you park it at a station in high as long as you're not planning on using it for anything?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Low. You can't take your carrier into high. The only way they get there is through a mistake on a petition.

Park it in NPC null or low. there are plenty of stations around which anyone can dock in.
i live in null and have never docked in sov space. NPC null ftw

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

So... this may be a stupid question, but I'll bite. Not trying to hijack the thread, it may help the OP as well:

What is the easiest way to figure out which are NPC null controlled areas vice player controlled? Is there a feature in-game with the star map, would you recommend using DOTLAN maps, or is there just a brute force way to search through various corp info pages to find out which are NPC corps controlling said space and stations? I'm not brand-new to EVE, but haven't done a ton of exploring in null (at least without a player corp). Thanks!

I use the in-game map's SOV filters to show only the various NPC factions... Sansha, Guristas, Serpentis, Mordu's Legion, Thukker Tribe, The Syndicate, etc... (NOTE: there is a filter that will show all the NPC empires on the map).
