250mm railguns vs DUAL 250mm railguns

Here are the raw t2 stats

Attribute 250mm Dual 250mm
PG 208 1155
CPU 42 58
Optimal 28800 28800
Falloff 12000 12000
Tracking 0.02 0.018
Signature 125 400

DPS with all lvl V using antimatter
250mm: 41
Dual 250mm: 36
(Also 425mm Railgun: 40)

I believe some balancing went wrong at some point. Ship bonuses somehow help in mitigating the problem, but still, a medium gun performing better than its "DUAL" large cousin....

The medium long range turrets were buffed recently but CCP haven't got around to rebalancing large and small guns yet.

Also
- 250mm railgun is the biggest derivate of the medium guns
- Dual 250mm railgun is the smallest derivate of the medium guns

The difference is not that big. The stats are similar.
In my opinion it is ok, so you can have a similar gun on 2 diffferent ships to use the gun bonus.

I find issue in the fact that:
You took two 250mm railguns.
You slapped them together.
You vastly increased the powergrid cost, increased CPU cost, reduced tracking, and increased the ammo cost.

Then you took a dump on DPS to top it all off.

Personally I don't expect a massive overpowered buff to dual 250mms, but it's really a sad day when you're considering medium guns on your BS because they perform close to/equally to the smallest large gun.

Not even close/qually...but better. 250's have same range with better fitting, dps, tracking, signature, cap usage.

Change the dual 250's name to dual 200's and I'll be content, but as it is, it looks like an engineering failure.

On an unbonussed battleship you are better off fitting the medium guns, this is kinda ridiculous.
All the BS sized smaller weapons are pretty bad and not used much, they could use a rebalance that would give them an edge beside "lower" fitting requirements.

Like for each category having a high tracking, a long range and a balanced gun, maybe with kinda similar dps.

if they balanced the duel guns to be equivalent to what they actually are than id put duels on my hybrids bs platforms because frigs with out using drones are annoying imo

CCP should adjust signature resolution on the smaller variant guns. The only reason I know for using them is because of reduced fitting requirements. Otherwise there is usually no other compelling enough reason to fit them.

One should also not get to serious about the names of the turrets.

You should just think about the size (Small, medium, large, x- large) and short range (pulse, ac, blaster) vs. long range (beam, arty, rail).

If You think about the names and calibers, you'll start asking questions like:
why does the same ammo fit into 150mm and 200mm?
why doesn't dual gun use twice the ammo?
etc...

The names are there mostly for flavor.

That's an idea that has been thrown around for years and it's quite valid, especially since there's now several new types of "rapid" missiles.
