Got the new patch today and, it seems to be worse now than yesterday….. The rate of flickering has increased. The character select screen is not just flickering its colors are all washed out and the portrait is now pink. The rate of flicker on the UI has increased.

Snorlax,

We ( The linux players) greatly appreciate the effort despite that fact that we are not supported. There's more of us than most people realize. If there is anything we can do to help let us know. Some of us I'm sure can provide logs and wine debug output.

My current question is what would it take to get ccp to make a supported client. We have thousands of linux users that you never hear from unless something goes horribly wrong. At that most of the time the linux community is more likely to help then the windows. The linux community is developers system administrators DBA's and few other choice professions along with a few people who want a free OS. There are resources like crowdfunds which would get you what you need as a startup cost. You require no windows dll's to run the game so it should be extremely easy to do. The developers here already help us and support us on there own time. Why not pay them for that effort and make this supported again once and for all.

The only thing needed to bring support is a button on the front page with instruction on how to get the client and launcher running through wine. The game (up until yesterday) runs amazingly well in wine, and you guys at CCP are awesome to try and unofficially support the client in linux. Nothing code wise should be changed for linux support.

Just my 2 cents.

Today's patch did not resolve the issue on the Linux side of things, it seems.

CCP Snorlax, are there any particular log files or anything that those of us who are experiencing this could upload that would help?

I'm running on a Win7 32 bit VMWare Player machine, on top of Windows 7 64bit with the latest nVidia drivers. I've tried DirectX 9 and 11. I get the same issues the Linux/Wine users are having. Works perfect on my home machine directly (Win7, similar nVidia card).

I would tend to agree. Ive been using linux for about 3 years with eve without any issues up till this point. Getting it supported would just make it easier for the devs on there end. on our end we will do what we have always done.

vm users can use an old version WDDM 7.14.1.31 video driver. This was in like V6 V7 workstation 2009. Works flawlessly with that driver.

Noticed a lot of laptops dropping, same type of issues. There was a time with Open GL, it faced this problem, was the processor running faster than the game, creen flickered to compensate, kinda. The had to do a vsync to fix that.

This isn't open gl, but it is also antiquated software running on new hardware. I had lots of hair on my head when eve was originally coded.

I would like to add that while I'm not experiencing the magnitude of flickering that Ashrune Cadin is in game, I do have a flicker on my system as well. My situation is a bit different however as I run across multiple monitors using multiple clients using the program ISBoxer--some of you may be familiar with this. It has worked flawlessy up until two or three patches ago.

My system specs are linked. Just a screenshot of HWiNFO64.

I am running my i4770k OC'ed 37.5% to 4.7ghz.

I think it is important to provide one additional bit of information about the only clients which are actually flickering. The flickering does not seem to occur on my left most monitor, which is a full screen view of a selected client. My center monitor is the storage location for all of my clients which does not seem to have any flickering on any of the other clients. The right is another full screen view for another group of clients which is the one containing a flicker of the neo com. It appears more prevalent when I have additional windows open shut as killmails or assets tab.

Great patch chaps... all is working and no flickering. A playable Eve again.

Only issue I have now is for some reason I can no longer flick desktops while Eve is playing....?????? No matter the kaybinding or screen edge binding still no desktop change. If this could be worked on...I would be more than happy.

Still having a minor flicker with the Neocom panel when inside stations, ship view, not captains quarters. I also have odd flickers across the "space" view when undocked, similar to the flickers displayed in Ashrune Cadin's video.

This issue isn't minor any longer. Was traveling through space with a window open and has massive cut flickering across my screen. Checked with a few other games and noticed nothing out of the ordinary, so it's eve restricted.
