Always when I log in, I have to write my character name. Because I haven't logged in from this IP. Well my IP is CHANGING everytime I log into internet!

CCP, seriously, why you are torturing people with this nonsense?

I guess we should have ccp turn off security features to satisfy the minority on awful connections

100 Mbps 4G connection here...far from awful. Actually better than my old 100 Mbps cable. Got antennas at roof, reception is pretty nice Blink

Wired internet connections are so last decade. Seriously.

Yeah I like a medium with a maximum localised frequency that dictates the available that I get to time/code share with 1000 other people and as an added bonus the error rate shoots as high as the mood every time someone coughs or an owl farts.

The stupid is strong with this one.

Hey! You might know! Is there a program that allows me to route software access through a specific connection, if I have multiple ones active at a time?

Options as I see:

1. Deal with it, HTFU.
2. Make a character with a name you can remember, stop smoking J's before you log in.
3. Get a static IP, don't be a cheap ba$tard it's only $5-10 a month more.
4. Quit EVE becuase it's to difficult a login process, in which case, may I have your stuff? :)
5. Learn what a VPN is, route your LTE through your home and/or work so you have a more static IP.

Sorry, but I don't want my security Darwinized because it's too much of an inconvenience for you when logging in to take 5 whole extra seconds to answer a security question.

I have 4G LTE as well, but I rarely have to log in like you are having to OP, only when I refresh my modem. Must be a difference in the way our providers route the traffic or something.

Edit: Also... OP... if you are having difficulties typing in the character name, just make up another character on that account with a much simpler name to type. You get 3 slots, and they will all work for the security process.

6. Use one of the other 2 slots to make an alt with a short easy name. It only asks you for a character on the account (as verification for an unfamiliar IP), not which character you want to log on to.

First, LTE is only for data. It's not the same than 3G ****.

Second, it's not my fault that some retards give their login information 3rd parties by using infected mining bots etc.

It's more likely that person who managed to steal login information, already knows what characters are there at that account.
This 'security feature' is useless.

Basically they are the same in the fact they transmit data. The way in which that data is modulated across the spectrum is what makes the standards different, LTE being capable of transmitting the data at a faster rate. Also the DHCP (responsible for his IP) on the backend is handled differently as well.

There are alot more scenerios besides that as to why/how someone may attempt to access your account.

So by using that logic doorlocks are useless and a waste of time and money because criminals already know how to pick them and defeat then anyway.

Any additional layer of security (within reason of course) is fine by me.

It's like a lock, it keeps an honest person honest and slows the criminals down enough to the point they say "Eh, it's not worth it, lets go down the street to the neighbors house cause they never lock their door".

I'm just gonna thow this out there, you can buy a static IP package for like five dollars.

Unless your provider is bunk.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

I have the option to use dynamic or static. I use dynamic and accept that some things will take a tiny bit longer to log in to.

But then I am a die-hard internet paranoid and any (perceived?) extra layer of security is worth having to type a word or two, once in a while.

Here's a question, though. It didn't bother you to spend the equivalent of a months worth of log in attempts writing that OP. So what's the real problem?

Some people want more security and are perfectly fine with it taking a couple seconds longer to log in.

Others don't care and only want instant gratification.

The second group tend to be victims of identity theft, account hacking and other forms of asshattery, and demand yet more instant gratification from services who fix those problems. The same people are the ones who tend to use 1111 or 'password' as their passwords..or even 'guest' (yeah..looking at you coffee shop across the street, thanks for the free wifi).

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?
