This is obviously shopped.

Saying torrents are illegal is like saying hard drives are illegal. Just because some (or most) contain illegally obtained content does not imply that the medium itself is illegal.

Just because the midget porn on my hard drive is too hardcore for some red states doesn't mean all hard drives are illegal. Cool

Torrenting copyrighted crap is illegal, using torrent for legal reasons(*snigger*) is perfectly fine...

Just throwing this out there, but some of the largest gaming companies in the world (like, a little company known as Blizzard) use peer-to-peer systems for distributing patches and other software.

Torrents are a legitimately superior form of file exchange. I wish more sites would use them instead of the ****** file server hosting that is prevalent among the more "legitimate" parts of the internet.

No I don't want to download from a ****** server in atlanta at 32Kb/s, what is this 1995?

EveryoneAmericans relax. The date looks off because Iceland uses metric time.

They are not the only one that uses Peer to Peer system.

WOT also uses a Peer to Peer system as well.LolP

I think CCP should incorperate a peer to peer system as well.

Well they used to i do not know why CCP changed it ?

If CCP would had looked at the WOT Peer to Peer system that would work allot better than the system they have in place right now.

I think you'll find that it's already doing so, there was certainly talk of the launcher using a p2p protocol, IIRC Chribba usually provides a torrent for patches.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Using copyrighted files without paying for them is illegal

I would also like to point out that the quote above also isn't true always everywhere. It depends entirely on where you are viewing it and where it was copyrighted. In the UK, the copy right laws are fairly explicit. Sharing or copying these files is straight up illegal. If however, you download them, watch them and then never copy them yourself or give them to anyone else. You've not done anything illegal. The copying is done server side, you just requested that copy. The distributor is doing something illegal, you are not. Torrents avoid this issue by using one line in the UK legislation to their gain. In order for sharing copyrighted content to be illegal, you need to be sharing a substantial portion of the total copy righted works, which with torrents, you are not. Because each person downloading each torrent is receiving a minuscule portion of the total file from many many different people. That way no one person is doing anything illegal.

Everything is illegal...

I'm a relatively respectable citizen. Multiple felon perhaps, but certainly not dangerous.
