Howdy everyone,

I'm relatively new in EvE but nonetheless I already have the resources to start planning the future. Although PvP-wise the focus on the game is not on Solo roaming of course, I would still like to start a small career for fun there once my skill's + pratice allows - specifically for hunting some criminal scum in low sec Cool.

After doing some research and talking with some people I decided that I would like to use the Proteus and I made a fit for it, I would like to hear what you "professionals" think about it. Rules: Cloak and EPL gotta stay and let's not go overboard with the price - I can currently get this for ~350m so let's try to leave it that way.

[Proteus]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Damage Control II
Medium Armor Repairer II
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Armor Explosive Hardener II
Adaptive Nano Plating II

Warp Scrambler II
10MN Microwarpdrive II
Stasis Webifier II
Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 25

Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M
Heavy Ion Blaster II, Antimatter Charge M
Expanded Probe Launcher I, Combat Scanner Probe I
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II

Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II

Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating
Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Proteus Propulsion - Gravitational Capacitor
Proteus Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Proteus Engineering - Power Core Multiplier

What need's changing? Overall what types of ships would you say could be a target? Frigate's/Destroyer's/Cruiser's/BC's/etc?

Thank you.

1) Meta4 scrams/webs can be overloaded for longer than t2
2) The cpu saved by using meta4 may allow you do upgrade your ANP to an EANM. If not, downgrade the DCU to allow the EANM
2) Cap boosters/Ammo
3) I find the mix of passive and active tnak peculiar. IMO choose one and do it well, rather than both averagely. Rigs would have to change to match chosen tank style too.
4) My experience of probing players is limited, but if it can be done without the emergent locus rig (do you really need that strength bonus?) then a dissolution or friction extension might serve you better.

I should warn you that you are setting yourself up for a frustrating future. Yes, lowsec dwellers often have nice bounties.

BUT

Low-Sec dwellers mostly fight in either small gangs that can handle a solo proteus, or solo in FW plexes that the Proteus is not allowed to enter.

You won't have trouble finding someone with a big bounty. But you will struggle to engage them and live no matter how skilled you are (in points AND ability).

============================

What you would probably enjoy more is becoming one of the lowsec criminal scum, specially in finding goody-two shoes running missions with your probing Proteus and killing them.

I would suggest forget low sec which will be irritating for you as someone else mentioned. You should roam wormholes and look for targets. The rewards will probably be much greater.

It's mostly about the "fun" of hunting/engaging a lonely pirate, not necessary the reward, that I've decided to go with this route, but I'm also new and I don't know much.. I'll take it into consideration.

I have been also thinking about that but the Fit would need to be different correct?

The fun of hunting would definitely be there more if hunting mission runners in lowsec, or even more challenging, hunting in wormholes.. The fit would be very similar to what you already have, perhaps you would need neuting to turn off a PVE active tank.

You forgot to give it dps. 1 magstab, 4 guns, no drones, fitting IONs?

Power core multiplier without using the extra turret slot is bad. Fit the cap reservoir and get some drones out of it!
2 magstabs minimum
Don't use t2 tackle. use meta 4. Midslots generate lots of heat, and meta 4 reduces it somewhat. Plus your ealier fit had an ANP, so you must be hurting for cpu anyway.
Weather you want more hp or more repping ability is up to you, proteus can go hard either way or both.
cap booster is nice but not required, due to your ability to target select and depending on how you tank.
Navigational sub is a big choice here. Gravitational capacitor is nice and gives extra midslot, localized injectors give the best base speed, an extra low and let you run the mwd forever, but the thing can fit a nullifier as well without giving up much killing power. All 3 are viable choices IMO.

"**CCP is changing policy, and has asked that we discontinue the bonus credit program after November 7th. So until then, enjoy a super-bonus of 1B Blink Credit for each 60-day GTC you buy!"**

Never forget.

I wonder why they made Proteus as the ugliest ship in the game. Looks like a motorcycle. Ugh Ugh
