Hi All. I'll start by saying i've been playing eve for about a year now and think i finally understand all the basics. I've been focussingon mining/indy like i think most do when starting out but i now have managed to get a whole load of friends playing and all of us want to go into Incursions. I know getting prepared for incursions takes time and so in the mean tim we'd like to run missions hopefully get to level 4's while training up for incursions to
1) make money
2) have something to do while training.

What i ask you is, can i get some advice on ships and fits for level 1/2/3 missions, as a starting point I am caldari and my end goal (for now) is to flying a Rokh with T2 fit for incursions, shield tankes with Hybrid Turrets. This will hopefully give you a helping hand in directing me in what to go for.

It may be a basic question i dont know but i dont really know enough about PvE to make a decision.
Also i shoudl add i've started a new toon to join with everybody and useing my old one strikly for mining.
Thanks in advance.

High slots:
Weapons

Mid slots:
Shield tank (You're caldari so you definitely want shield)

Low slots:
Damage control
Damage mods

It's hard to **** up low-level missions. Level 4s? Google.

So quick advice from me as a Caldari person who went through a similar experiance.

One of the things about Caladri are missiles, because they always hit* which is good for PvE with low skills:
Level 1's and 2's use a Caracal with either light missiles or rapid lights (you'll be laughing)
Level 3 use the Drake

If you want to solely train Hybrids and not waste on missiles.

Level 1's and 2's use a Moa
Level 3 use the Ferox

Once you get into a Rokh don't jump striaght into Level 4's without having a reasonable ammount of skils, so you don't get warp scrammed and blown up.

*be aware of lock range versus flight range

Hope this helps.

Edit: I'm in a Domi now, Domi for life

Thanks for your replies. It's been pretty helpfull. It's easy to sya its hard to mess up level 1's and 2s but im not worried about 'messing it up' i just want to avoid training 3 days for something that not needed in the end. Is it pretty easy to transition into a T2 Rokh for Incursians and are Ts Rokh accepted as DPS or should i be heading for something different ?

Rokh's do get incursion invites, but I would say you don't see them often. However, with large Hybdrids, you can easily go for a vindicator, which is one of the premier boats for incursions these days.

Oh and - don't train missiles if your goal is incursions. Missiles are kinda meh, and getting an invite in a missile boat can be extremely hard.

There's an 'Incursions Start Here' thread on the forums that would be very useful.

A quick search of the forums yielded this gem:

I would suggest checking with UOR VG once you have a ferrox and can use t2 shield tank. I am also working on starting a new incursion community for just exactly this sort of thing and am taking people out of career agent systems and teaching them PVE and some indi.

Shield fit Vindicator should be your end goal if you want to run incursions in a hybrid platform that uses shields.

Train accordingly.

Rokh's can get invites but they will get passed over in shiny fleets. Missiles are good for missions but not popular for incursions.

If U are aiming for incursions as the end goal, train for Nightmare. Nightmares are core ships for top-edge inc fleets and one of their ship skills required is Caldari Battleship. Or train for Vindicator -> Mach, one weapon skill difference only.

I always recommend that new players get into logo first for Incursions. Two reasons 1)the ships are less expensive 2) logo is almost always needed and determines if a fleet upgrade to the next level of sites.

Start the day off slow and taper off from there.

3) Because if there's going to be one inexperienced/underskilled pilot in your shiny fleet, you should make sure its the guy in charge of keeping the mult-billion isk undertanked pirate battleships alive. Blink

on the other hand, logi's need to be on the ball constantly - especially in HQ and with high influence, whereas DPS just follows tags with the ocassional broadcast. Also, training for logi is rather specific, whereas DPS is pretty much a universal task.

+ Skilling for a decent BS is not as skill intensive as logis are. It's way faster to get into a decent BS than one can get into a decent logi.
