What is the process of joining a serious C5/C6 wh corp?

Hey all.

Well, I've lived in null for quite awhile now and circumstances have come up that don't let me play nearly as much as I used to, so I left for hisec and topped off my account for several months and I'm going to spend that time training for a perfect Moros (all V).

My goal is to eventually (once I have more time for the game) join an experienced and organized C5/C6 wormhole corp that would make use of my Moros piloting (defense, sleepers for income, all the good stuff). But unless things have changed, I know that wormhole corps have to be extra cautious about who they recruit since recruiting the wrong person into their WH/POS can be disastrous.

When the time comes (at least 7 months from now), how difficult is it gonna be for me to join a high quality WH corp, assuming I've got strong dread skills?

I should have no issues provided your former corpmates don't consider you a total jerk P Any corp worth their salt in wormhole space will do extensve api/background checks. Sadly though, POS's and their setup/interface is total garbage, so nothing is 100% secure. That said, any good wormhole corp will have the best setup to minimize the risks.

Dread skills are nice and all, but not essential at all for joining most C5/C6 corps. Any good corp recruiter will as said do a range of background checks as much as practically possible. A lot of corps have a trial period for a while, and even when you eventually get a pos / share a pos, it will normally be quite hard to steal very much un-noticed if your in an active pvp corp. Mostly its actually more time efficient to run sites anyways! Big smile

I have seen people join w-space corps with only skills for a covert ops probe ship providing they learn the corp desired skills later on. Anyone willing to go out and actively scan the chain in search of pew or whatever is wanted, are generally very welcomed in all w-space corps.

What w-space corps are generally more interested in is how active you will be. Activity doesn't mean time online, but rather time spent being active while your online, this is especially important in a w-space active pvp corp.

Are you the guy who sits and pos spins, waiting for your corp mates to find you kills, or are you the guy who just aggressively scanned the entire chain and tackled a capital ship, and is now shouting at your mates to get their ass's down there to help you kill it!?!?!

Best way to probably join an active pvp corp, small or big is to poke your head in their recruitment channel, have a little chat and banter and go from there.

Fine I will be the one to say it, train t3's and guardians, that is all you need to join a decent c5/c6 corp in wh space. You can use lokis to do pve, or salvage, in my experience those are "rarer" roles anyways. It will also take much less time to skill into that. Unless you were an awoxer you shouldn't have a hard time finding a good pvp corp, especially if you have a semi decent killboard.

Pretty much this sadly, we are a little different where we have a lot of different PVP fleet comps we field for different purposes but having T3's is a must.

You don't need a perfect Moros toon to come to C5/C6 space but damn they are fun to fly.

And i don't see why you would wait 7 months unless there is something you need the passage of time to hide...

Nothing to hide here at all, real life stuff is keeping me from being very active for that time, so I thought I'd use that time to get Moros training done. But I'll definitely add a Proteus to the list directly after the Moros.

Also I may not need a perfect Moros to join C5/C6 space but if I want a good split of profits from capital escalations and a regular income, shouldn't I train for it?

I cant speak for all the corps, but what ship your flying is irrelevant to your share of the isk. If your there you get paid is how we do it. A proper web loki or salvager is usually harder to come by than a dread is.

I would say the t3s are more important that the dread, as if all you bring to the table is a perfect moros your not useful for much besides farming.

Well I've already got T2 Salvager/good Noctis skills. Is a Proteus any use in escalations?

Edit: Looks like the Loki is the only one with the webbing bonus, so I guess it's Loki or nothing for T3s huh?

As far as escalation fleets its generally; 2xCarrier, 2xDread, 2-3 Loki, salvage, ecm, hole security. Hole security is actually the most important part when your bearing it up.

Edit: More Dreads usually means faster isk/hr

Keep in mind...a lot of your isk will come from your static. If the home hole as good pi that's an excellent source of 'easy money', WSpace connects with all space. Take advantage of null sec as well, doing DED sites is great money as well.

I just wrote a post addressing this exact kind of point in my corporate forum. I'm going to quote myself. Which feels really weird, but somehow right.

We want PvP. We yearn for it. It is not just a means to an end to survive and thrive in our Class 5. PvP is the game of Eve Online. PvE is just a means to that end. How do we help future recruits understand this philosophy before joining OTRSC?


That's it in a nutshell. Your skills -- above a certain threshold -- are largely irrelevant. PvE in a wormhole is just a puzzle; once you figure out the pieces, the picture is always the same. If you want to survive and thrive in C5/C6 space, you must bring the fight. You must defend your territory. When your static opens into a new system, you want your new neighbors to send out urgent Eve-mails saying, "Holy ****, [[insert corp here]] just opened into us! Everybody be extra careful!" If you can't deal with that reality, your time in w-space will be short and unpleasant.

Last I heard RCC takes anyone, so if you're worried about not being good enough/ being a spy/ illiterate, don't be.

Our standards are pretty low though
