Pilot's License Extensions (PLEX) are official documents that must be in order otherwise CONCORD will not allow you to fly around as a capsuleer. I propose an addition to the game whereby pilots are able to attempt to fool CONCORD with counterfeit PLEX.

What is a counterfeit PLEX?
It's a player crafted item that has a low percentage chance of fooling CONCORD into thinking it's a genuine PLEX.

What does it do?
If it works, it does the same as a normal PLEX.

What if it doesn't work?
If CONCORD detects your counterfeit document they will: confiscate and destroy it, lower your security status, and flag you as a criminal.

Why would CONCORD allow me to sell this?
They won't. This item would not appear on the market at all. Contract only.

Won't this devalue genuine PLEX and break the entire Eve economy?
Nope. Here's why: a 5 run blueprint for counterfeit PLEX will require (among other stuff) a genuine PLEX to build.

Blueprint? Say what?
BPCs would be available from pirate faction LP stores and occasionally dropped by NPC pirates. There would be no BPO. The BPCs would also be contract only.

"Give me details, dammit!"
Sheesh, ok ok... Each C-PLEX will have a base chance of fooling CONCORD of 15%. This will be modified at the production stage by 2% per level of a new skill called "Counterfeiting" which will be required in order to produce these items. The counterfeiting skill would only available from pirate faction LP stores or as rare NPC pirate drops.

Legality

I doubt CCP would be interested in this...

Also, my main has -10.0 security status, so no drawback

Your numbers are pretty weak... 15% base chance, +2%/level, = 21% max chance. 5 per plex, so to get an extra month of game time, I would need to run 20 plexes through it.

nope it's a terrible idea even with it taking 1 plex to make 5 and other stuff you'd have to charge more than a plex to make any money on selling them and why would someone buy something that might not work for more than it costs to get something that definatly will work

Woohoo, cheaper gametime for nullsec? after all, if you don't interact with concord, they won't catch you.

Get some Eve. Make it yours.

I don't follow your math. 15% plus 5 x 2% equals 25% according to my math. So with "Counterfeiting V" 1 PLEX would generate 5 C-PLEXs, each with a 25% chance of working.

Here are the numbers for attempting to use all 5 C-PLEX from a max skilled counterfeiter:

  • 1 of them works - 39.55%
  • 2 of them work - 26.38%
  • 3 of them work - 8.79%
  • 4 of them work - 1.46%
  • 5 of them work - 0.098%

  • Some special cases:
  • none of them work - 23.73%
  • At least 1 of them works - 76.27%
  • More than 1 works - 36.72%

As for why people would buy these rather than a normal PLEX... see the not insignificant chance of more than 1 of these things working.
