Returning player, What am I missing out on?!

Hi Everyone, JrLUK is a 2005 toon that's been active on and off for the last few years, I always return then get a bit bored and leave again, well this time I'm back with a friend in tow and don't want to get bored so I'm looking for a few things to do that I've never done!

Typically the things I've done in the past: Mine, Mission, Small amounts of PvP (Factional Warfare, Wars and Low/nul sec).
But I've never really looking in to exploration, i.e. ghost sites, wormholes etc.. Basically, I'm looking for an alternative to running missions to pass the time, I'm looking for something a bit more fun and less like Eve-work!

Anybody fancy pointing me in the right direction? What ships are useful? What skills should I train up?

I've just re-educated myself on the way scan probes work now so I can scan down a site in a system but that's in hi-sec.

Take a look at this site to decide what you like to do: What to do in EvE
If you click at one of the boxes, it direct you to another site with more information regarding the theme.

And, if you didn't do the Epic Arcs ( https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Epic_mission_arcs ),
it may be a good idea to do them together with your friend.

To re-educate, may be you can work the actual Carreer Agents.
You find them clicking the help button (blue circle with question mark in the neocom to the left)

you can try running a mining mission in fw lowsec. see what happens...

Check out jonnypews youtube's they are pretty helpful.. http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6L76TQIxYnWrkQrF7tErSg. there is also a pretty good ingame channel that you can get help from.. can't remember what it was though.. :(

wormholes are fun. does require a certain level of dedication though. high risk/high reward style of gameplay.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I decided to jump into my first wormhole the other night, took just an Ishkur to be safe, it was fun! Looks like after a bit of dedicated skilling I might make it a regular thing, I'm not the kind of player to move there but I'll definitely make a few long expeditions with a friend at some point :)
