iv noticed that it is hard to find any ore worth while in .7 and above? just wondering if its fairly safe to go to a .5 with out a group other other players if your a noob?

With a tanked procurer it is very safe to be solo - if you are not in a wardecced corp.

You many also find that if you just move to a different system you will find the ore's you're looking for in .7-.8 systems.

You are safe until somebody is so bored that even your procurer will become gank magnet.

A gank Vexor can take out a Procurer solo in 0.5 if the Proc isn't tanked.

OP: Mining in highsec is boring, poorly paid and will make you a target for highsec pirates like myself. You can buy many of us off with a mining permit and not going AFK, but you will enjoy the game more if you only mine in moderation or not at all.

If making ISK to fund your PvP lifestyle is the primary motivation behind your mistaken foray in to the mind-numbing boredom of mining, why not check the hints in the Making ISK guide?

That's the worst reason to mine. The right reason to mine is you are doing something else while you mine (EX: chatting, watching tv..), you are botting (which breaks the rules and will get you banned), you are just bored, or you gain some weird satisfaction "losing isk" by mining and building things*. A good way to earn isk as a newbie is missions.

A better way is to join an established corp with a newbie focus like EVE-Uni, RvB or BNI. There are also a number of good smaller corps that will take in newbies as well. The advantage of an established corp is you often will get the opportunity to get much more valuable sources of income. For example in a mission running corp you'll often be given the opportunity to loot a blitzer's missions. The loot isn't worth it for the mission runner, but you can loot x10 what you'd make mining. Remember that a corp that recruits newbies understands you don't have isk, and will expect that your 1st job in corp is to make enough to be able to do what ever it is the corp does. They will also be very interested in showing you how make a steady living.

* As a newbie you are generally better off mining ore, selling the ore, and buying stuff than mining, refining, and building. Of course if you are enjoying it more than the isk you aren't gaining then who cares. (Okay it actually upsets a lot of people for some reason on the forums, but hey have fun it a game.)
