I am probably the 1 out of 60,000 EVE players on Earth who actually cares about this, but how do I make a "custom tracking position"?

I used to like how the tracking camera was for the most part automatic and offset. I am hoping to recreate that dynamic since the 1.1 release using the new UI. Any feedback, or more importantly, instructions regarding my dilemma would be highly appreciated.

Just hit ESC while in game and fiddle with the camera controls.

If that doesn't work, then feel free to find me and blow up my ship for wasting your time.

I tried that, but thanks for the suggestion.

My ship in space would stay centered on screen and the selected item would be slightly offset so that I could see both while in space. If I can't recreate that effect then I need to either get over it or quit playing eve. Hopefully I can recreate that somehow though.

I have the same problem
it ignores the camera offset that the ship is linked to

patch broke it

tell CCP about it or they think the 5 of us who care are nuts

Pirate Unicorns updated the tracking camera UI and made it easier to customize, it's explained here
http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/tracking-camera-ui-improvements/
basically, when you have custom camera position enabled the tracking camera bracked becomes visible for a few seconds, you can drag it around to change the tracking position.

Just click the Custom Tracking Position, as soon as that camera crosshair pops up click & drag it wherever.

Edit: derp...My bad, dev posted already as I was replying

I love it when a solution to a problem is very simple. Thank you both.

Simple? It took a Pirate Unicorn to fix it. A PIRATE UNICORN.

They literally bred a mythical creature, gave it an eyepatch and a pegleg, let it roam the seven seas pillaging the trade routes, and then HIRED it to solve your problem. Simple? Not even close.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

bah... I missed the option even though I looked right at it.

I still don't get this trend for making simple stuff complicated

I don't! I just bought a new roll of antacid!
