Can a rattlesnake outperform marauders?

In level 4 missions, can a rattlesnake outperform marauders of any kind? (taking salvaging out of the equation coz im not interested in that). I can salvage just as easily with a noctis, thank you very much.

I think the rattlesnake is a very underrated ship...

less ammo consumption (which means a higher isk/hour turn out rate)
no range difficulties
tank sufficient enough for any lvl 4 mission (even with active tanking)
applied DPS on cruisers and frigs is insane...(due to sentries above average tracking)
BS and BC npcs are not a problem (usually 1k applied DPS on them)
limited invulnerability to ewar (due to drones and range tanking)

you don't even have to MJD the rattler...an AB fit is usually good enough for most missions.
you can take the rattlesnake in any space (racial region), and it will not have any problems adapting to that environment.
it is cheaper than any faction pirate ship.
not a popular gank magnet due to its capable tank.
has the most sexiet hull design (hands down) of the BS class.
has an evil looking rabbit logo on its wings...nuff said.

For ISK/ Hr I would say no but there's more to Eve than that. It's a game, not a job so have fun! If you like the Rattlesnake by all means fly it. You will still make decent ISK per hour and you'll have fun.

One thing you have to remember is the more you enjoy playing means more time you'll spend playing. This means more ISK you'll make overall. Now more time spent playing could mean divorce for those married folks so it may cost you in the long run Lol

For isk/hour npc killing, marauders are the best ship for lvl 4s.

For lp/hour there are probably better blitzing ships, perhaps tengu or mach or some other specialized ship.

Paladin can do all that.. and better... granted the way of fighting is different.

The snake is often the first Bling ship mission runners buy, because it has a huge buffer tank, it's player-friendly with versatile damage types, and you can use it effectively in less skill time than a marauder.

Take a look in any mission hub and you'll find hundreds of them.

That's sufficient testimony to their popularity. But the Varg & Pally in particular, against their natural racial rats, are better.

Don't know what you people are talking about but this fit with all skills on V, and Hardwirings @ V AND BEFORE THE PATCH OF TODAY (OMNI NERF) it outperformed marauders. Can tank any room, get 1230 Dps (430 DPS Cruise MIssiles) Garde II's @ 57.6KM + 12KM. Drone Range @ 112KM.
Even With Bouncers that's 1130 DPS @ 115KM +24KM. And that All for under 2 bill. (well 3 if u count the Hardwirinigs)

Even properly fitted Hyperion can outperfom Kronos. And it costs only half of the Rattlesnake.

Paladin All5 + hardwirings 5% does 1350dps with conflag at 32km. +100 dps more if drones can deployed.

Sansha Dread Lords or Tyrants get melted in a few cycles of the pulse lasers.

With right use of MJD or 100mn MWD and Bastion Module no other ship will beat this laser beast against Drones, BR,
Sansha, EOM or Mercs i guess.

But maybe i will get enlightend by a RS pilot.

For example Sansha Blockade Lvl 4 Missi about 13-14 mins. Time taken with stop watch when landing on pocket - warp out of pocket.

No, it can't. But a Rattlesnake can complement a Marauder very nicely. I run two accounts with the RS on one and an AC Vargur on the other. Complete pwnage.

Not after omnis died.

They were semi-close if actively fit and aggressively played but were expensive and not many fit that way. A good bridge, certainly.

It may not be a "popular" gank magnet but bling one out and go do some SOE missions in Osmon and let me know how many Thrashers it took to gank one.

Care to link your Paladin fit? Do you keep around the 32 km range?

You get 1357DPS from 4HS+T2 Aerator+2x5% implants, and a range of 32+19 with conflag if you run bastion. Without it (moving) you get 27+16.

Yeah, I would say semi-close is a decent descriptor. They basically function like MJD marauders anyway. Perfectly capable of staying close and bashing stuff, but also really capable of hitting stuff from long range. I have one like this, and I was getting 1000+ dps at about 60km and 800 dps out to 100km with wardens (t1 cruise volleys make up about 200dps however). After the nerf, I think the garde range is coming down from 59+12 to 45+21, while tracking is also being cut down by 40%. This is with two range-scripted faction omnis and a t2 scope chip. Interestingly enough, a t2 scope chip is now better for range than a scripted faction omnilink.

old t2 omni - 25% optimal, 25% tracking
old faction omni - 30% optimal, 30% tracking (based on the copy&paste from faction tracking comps)

new t2 omni (range) - 15% optimal, 30% falloff
new faction omni (range) - 16% optimal, 35% falloff

Faction omnis just got a lot weaker compared to t2. A whole 1% extra optimal!

So again, gardes are murdered, any other drones are fine. Still get 800+ selectable dps at MJD range, which is pretty damn good still, considering that you can still volley small crap with drones.

RIP Garde's, its sad though....cause the only reason for the indirect nerfs is the bonus on the dominix

Edit: apparently you can still get em to hit at 90optimal so....whatever.
