New Ship Type - Small Scale Salvagers

Right, hi guys! So I was talking to one of the CCP members last night in one of the new player tutorials, more specifically the mining and gas harvesting one and we discussed an idea and I got told to put it in this section of the forums.

So how about a new class of salvaging ship? Think of it as a miniature Noctis, a destroyer sized vessel that has bonuses to salvaging. Kinda like the Venture of salvaging. It would stop people from getting Thrashers and Cormorants and fitting as many salvagers, tractor beams and cap rechargers as you can onto it, give a dedicated vessel towards people who either don't want to spend or can't afford a minimum of 65 million isk for a Noctis and can give something that's dedicated towards small scale salvaging. It could have say a bonus of 5% per skill level to the salvagers cycle time, a % bonus to salvagers (or tractor beams) range and in general give us a new ship to toy around with and make some isk with.

I mean I quite like the idea myself, I can afford a Noctis but don't want to buy something that expensive for salvaging in null sec / wormhole space and it would stop me from getting into a Thrasher fit for salvage and instead using a brand new ship to salvage the wrecks more efficiently and in general having more fun since it's a brand new shiny ship to look at.

So what do you guys think of this idea? Got any criticism, ideas or suggestions, or do you like it? Just throw it at me guys, thanks for reading :)

Slashers, stabbers, and destroyers have this covered fine.

I like it.

Something similar to a destroyer hull in size, or even a T2 Venture maybe (or not). Some might think there would be cross over between this and regular destroyers (which are already the poor mans salvage ship) but I don't think it will happen so long as it's bonuses are heavily geared to salvaging while still remaining relatively cheap (5-15m).

There could even be a T2 version with additional bonuses toward salvaging or cloaking, but that's just because I would love to go roaming in null sec ninja salvaging. Probably give it enough CPU to use a probe launcher too so you could hunt down lost drones or wrecks from a recently beaten sanctum.

Sure there are ships that can do it now, but I like the specialization of the ORE line in this case and think it merits discussion.

I like the idea, my first salvaging ship was and Atron with an AB and three Salvagers. It was quick but not efficient by any means. I was thinking more of a frigate sized vessel with two highs with one turret hardpoint and a high sub-warp speed with the salvaging bonuses. The speed would be to replace the tractor and you can use two salvagers on the one wreck or a salvager and one small turret if your salvage skills are high.

CODE is just a bunch of pirates; smart, organized pirates. It doesn't help to rage at them because that is exactly what they want. Dust yourself off and get back on your feet, you don't even have to talk to them.

There isn't much reason to add a new salvager when all of the t1 exploratiomn frigates have a bonus to salvagers. Unfortunately the frigates don't have a bonus to tractor beam range, which really isn't needed considering how much faster they can move compsred to a noctis.

destroyers work well enough for gathering stuff with the t2 tractor beams and salvagers. very speedy with a mwd, and just pack cargos in the lows

i'm sure there is a market for t, but theres no real need for it.

Get some Eve. Make it yours.

Noctis already has destroyer fittings. If a destroyer comes with more warp speed, agility and velocity, even without the extra tractor range, it's still going to make the Noctis completely useless.

I do not care if there is another Ship, but sorry cant see any true reason for that kind, because Destis (especialy) Dictors are pretty much the most awesome salvager out there.

Explo Frigs already have a Salvage Time Bonus. Maybe just adjust those?
